How long ahead of flight do I have to be at the airport?
How long ahead of flight do I have to be at the airport?
Depends on the airport but usually 1 1/2 to 2 hours ahead of the flight is good but there's no have to time.
4 days
1 week
2 hours should be enough
The general rule of thumb is 2 hours prior for a domestic flight, 3 or 4 hours prior for an international flight.
Also be sure to take the time of the year into account as well. For instance if you're flying around Thanksgiving or Christmas, you may want to get to the airport 3 or 4 hours prior even for a domestic flight because of how crowded it will be.
Many flights allow you to check in online up to 24 hours prior to departure time. If you can do this it's highly recommended as it will save you time in the airport and may allow you to skip the ticket counter entirely if you aren't checking any baggage.
There's no "have to", but typically one should arrive approximately an hour before the flight, to allow for possibly long lines at security.
The general rule is to be INSIDE* the airport, at the check-in desk, at least two hours before a domestic flight, three hours for an international flight.
*This does NOT mean approaching the turn-off to the airport on the highway, or circling the car park looking for a space.
At least two hours
I would say two hours so you have time to find parking, get food, and wait through the security check line. With the minimum of two hours on your hands, this will hopefully minimize stress!
Just get there 2 hours ahead of time. Before flight and makesure prepare yourself before going.
