How fast to los angeles?
Id like a hypothetical time frame an airline pilot can get you from san francisco to los angeles without breaking rules to faster then normal i heard its like 1hr or 1 hr 20min but can they do it in 40 minutes from pulling off ground and hovering over la not even touch down or possibly 35min?
Planes fly around 500mph, that's called High Sub-Sonic. Speed records are set with Running Starts, not take off and landings.
When I was stationed up in the San Francisco bay area, I used to fly from the San Francisco airport to the orange county airport most weekends. The flight took 55 minutes from take-off to touch-down. LAX is even closer, so maybe 45 minutes!
A direct route SFO to LAX is 293 nm. Using s Boeing 737 as an example, it's maximum speed
at 26000' in a standard atmosphere is, 340kCAS, or 490 knots True Air Speed. That is maximum operating speed of a Boeing 737. That works out to 35 minutes, but airspeed would be lower during climb and when descending. Take off to touchdown would be realistically be 45 to 50 minutes.
The biggest variable would be weather - favorable conditions, like a tail wind, could cut that time.
- Fast Track Security at Heathrow Airport Departures? My partner is disable and we have booked a flight with British Airways in business class to make his long journey more comfortable. Is it true that business class allows him to go through Fast Track Security? Does that mean he will have less waiting time at the security checkpoint?
- How fast the distance between the two aircraft? An aircraft is 144km east of an airport and is travelling west at 200 km/h. At the same time a second aircraft at the same altitude is 60km north of the airport and travelling north at 150km/h.
