Will Cathay Pacific Airways leave the Oneworld Alliance?
Will they leave the best airline alliance?
Like all organizations made of many members any member can decide to withdraw from the group for many reasons. They might join some other group or be part of many other groups.
Senior management and their accountants constantly asses the costs and benefits to the Airline of their arrangements.
Obviously if it is not a good thing for the Airline they change their activity with the group.
Oneworld, founded in 1999, currently has 13 members. Five airlines overtime are no longer members.
Many Airlines have decided not to be any alliance THEIR CHOICE
At this time the Alliance appears to be working for its members. Next year or ten years away NO ONE can guess what the situation might be for a particular Airline. It might merge with others by buying them or it in turn might be bought by someone.
The Airline might not be in business. NO ONE CAN GUARANTEE that they will never leave.
At this time it appears they do not want too leave. There are one the founders of the group.
Yes
I do not see it happening in the near future. In the past I heard some grumblings by them but that quickly died out. Airlines can leave and join different alliances but I'm sure they also look at the cost of leaving and joining another alliance because if they need to consider if they join another alliance, how much more will they add or gain from that alliance.
Hypothetically if Cathay were to leave OneWorld, the other 2 choices would be Star Alliance and SkyTeam. Star Alliance already has Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Asiana, Air China, EVA and ANA. Also United is pretty strong in Asia. Therefore Cathay Pacific would not really have much more to add and they would continue to compete with the other Asian airlines. The other choice would be SkyTeam but they have China Eastern, China Southern, Korean Airlines and China Airlines. Also Delta has a decent presence in Asia. While I would like Cathay to join either the other 2 alliances since I have a frequent flier account with both United and Delta, I think they have more to offer OneWorld and can complement American Airlines since American is not as strong as United or Delta in Asia.
Why would they?
- 30 inches 75 X 47 X 26 CM will that pass British Airways luggage? I be going away for a 2 week holiday to San Diego, California will a 30" 75 X 47 X 26 CM sized suitcase be ok to take to British airways?
- Does British Airways Food Choices? Does British Airways offer you a choice of food for their standard meals while you are on the plane? Not the diet specific or up charged meals. This would be for a long haul international flight.
- Can i leave the US airport during a layover? Am traveling on Tuesday and i have a layover in the USA. I have a Canadian passport. (Canadian citizen) so ca i leave the airport to go sight seeing for a while or I can't?
- After star alliance flight, about when will United Airline give me bonus mile? I'm a new card member of United Airline. Two weeks ago, I used ANA(Star alliance member). But United did not give me bonus mile. About when will United give me bonus mile?
