Missing my flight on purpose?

I recently booked a flight from Orlando, FL to New York to see my family. The flight from FL is American Airlines and the flight from NY (back to FL) is Delta. Seeing how I wasn't too sure of my family's availability, I got the insurance just in case. Turns out the insurance is a bunch of bs and can only get a full refund for certain reasons with much documentation and proof (not even going to bother).

Therefore, I'm thinking of missing that flight on purpose and just rescheduling another trip. I was thinking of rebooking it but the change fee is $200 and I can just get a new round-trip ticket for much less. So my question is, if i do that, is there a fee the airlines would charge me for missing the flight or it doesn't matter? I've never missed a flight in my life so not sure.

Yes

Yes the will

Airlines do not charge a fee for missing a flight. But if you miss the outbound leg the remaining part(s) of the itinerary will be cancelled.

Obviously insurance doesn't cover you just changing your mind.

There's no fee for missing your flight.

No charge but if you have other journeys on the ticket they will be cancelled. If you are a persistent no show you can go on a blacklist of passengers the airline will no longer fly.

Your fault for not purchasing the right type of trip insurance. You needed to buy a Cancel for any Reason policy

There's no fee for being a no-show. However, if you're not going to show, you can cancel that ticket so that the seat can be used by someone else. There's no charge for that either, unless you are trying to change the ticket.

If you can get a roundtrip ticket from Florida to NY for less than $200, I'd like to know where.
Anyway, airlines will sometimes let you apply the price of a ticket you're not going to use toward a future flight. You really should call and check on that. But there are no consequences to just not showing up for your flight- they've got your money, so why should they care?

MISS YOUR FLIGHT
There's no extra fee. The Airline keeps your money you paid for the flight. Including the return.

Want a new departure time YOU PAY the normal price. If you talk with your Airline they can still give you the return portion you have already paid for.

A risk you pay for when booking the cheap seat and need to change your plans.

" is there a fee the airlines would charge me for missing the flight" There's no "fee" for missing trhe flight. You just lose the money you paid for the ticket. If you miss a flight you will 100% not get a refund.
No insurance covers you changing your mind.
