Is a 1 Hour International Layover Enough on Turkish Airlines?

Is a 1 Hour International Layover Enough on Turkish Airlines?

Added (1). We have a big trip coming up this year and our layovers on Turkish Airlines are all in Instanbul. Our entire string of flights are all on Turkish Airlines. Besides the flight possibly arriving late… Is there any other reason to worry about a 1 hour layover? Will we have to re check bags or do passport checks again before boarding our next flight?

Flight 1: JFK - IST - LHR
Flight 2: LHR - IST - ACC
Flight 3: ACC - IST - JFK

Added (2). I also assume we will have under an hour seeing that the other flight boards probably 30 mins or so before departure.

In what airport? Coming from and going to where? An hour is more than enough time in most airports to get from one gate to another- IF your first flight is on time.

No, try to get a layover of at least 2 hours. I flew with Turkish Airlines a couple of times & they always delay. Few times, I even missed my connecting flight & had to wait 8 hours for the next one. They just suck. Try flying with Etihad or Emirates for better service.

Even though you'll arrive and depart from the same international terminal, 1 hour will be tight if there are any delays, you'll need to head straight for the transit desk close to gate 219 (see map), the good news is your baggage will almost certainly be checked through to your destination. Flights normally start boarding -30 from departure and for international that can be -45. Flights also normal close at -15, so you can't hang about.

You have HOW MUCH TIME?

You DO NOT get off first flight the minute it lands. It could be 10-20 minutes after landing that you get off the plane. OTHERS also want off first.
You are pushing the limits with a one hour connection. You MIGHT MAKE IT. Do you really want to wait around for next available seat. YOU DO NOT GET a PRIORITY next flight out seat. It could be a long wait.
YOU decide if you want to risk a long delay in your travel if you miss your short connection time.

I also assume we will have under an hour seeing that the other flight boards probably 30 minutes or so before departure.

YES true ALL flights begin boarding before departure depending on size of plane used can be an hour or as little as 30 minutes. Be aware they STOP boarding 10-15 minutes before departure to finish up what needs to be done before the plane can leave.

It is possible to make a connection in less than 60 minutes for some. For you the day you go it is a MAYBE.
It really is a good idea to allow some more time.
YOU Can't GUARANTEE your first flight will arrive on time or early. Many things can give a few minutes of delay to you getting off your first flight. You have very little time to get from one gate to the next. It is possible just not guaranteed you will be able that day.

Will we have to re check bags or do passport checks again before boarding our next flight? PROBABLY NOT.

Departure gate might be out of the secure Transit area. That you need to check for your particular flight.
You might need to pass Controls depending on from what part of Airport your next flight departs.

A flight over the ocean can be easily an hour early or LATE just because of the weather and wind the day you travel.
Possible. WHY ARE YOU DELIBERATELY planning to be rushing from one to the next? Risking missing your connection and maybe needing to wait for a day or two for an open seat.

Those are not "lay overs". They're transfer times. Totally different thing. One hour is really tight. It can take most of an hour to get off a plane after it has landed.

  • Long enough layover? I have 45 minutes to get from Terminal A to Terminal D at DFW Airport. Does anyone know how long it normally takes to get from one end to the other?
  • London 8:30 hour layover? In a few days i will have a 8:30 hour layover in london where i need to change airports. I arrive at Heathrow Airport at 7:40 and leave Stansted airport at 16:15. We want to visit one waterstones and have lunch at an Honest burgers. Is this possible? How can we do this in terms of public transportation? Is there another restaurant that is not super expensive that serves the impossible burger? (We want to try impossible/beyond burger)
  • But why turkish airlines didn't allow me to boarding pass? Is it ticket issue or another issue? I have family reunion visa of Brazil. Which is valid 1 years. And i bought one way ticket from turkish airlines.
  • How do you know if Turkish Airlines will raise or drop the prices? A week ago i checked for prices from Boston to Venice and it was over $1400 and a few days later it dropped to $1115. The tickets are for June 29(ish, whenever it's cheaper) till July 15th. How do I know if the prices will raise or drop? Should I buy it while it's cheaper or wait and risk it, hoping they will go lower…
