It's going to be my first time traveling through at Atlanta airport

How hard is it to navigate? Is it pretty easy for a first time flyer?

If it's a big airport, my suggestion would be to just find the screen that displays all the flights and find the serial number on that screen. Match the serial number on your boarding pass with the flight and THEN find that flight.

Also, don't be shy to ask people if you get lost. They want to help.

Just follow the signs and you will be fine. But do look at the boards and make sure you are still boarding at the same gate as they do change.

It's very easy. You can google a map of it. But basically, from any gate, you move toward the center following the signs for the other concourses and baggage claim. You go down an escalator and board the train. There are announcements telling you which concourse you're stopping at- and lighted signs on the train. You get off, go up the escalator, and look for the number of your gate. There are big overhead signs at intervals with the flight number and which gate it's at.

ATL is pretty easy IMO; signage is pretty easy to understand. Just give yourself plenty of time depending on how far you have to go to get to your gate.

You can check out the airport maps online. Be sure to get there early to clear security & follow the signs to get to your plane. Be sure wait to relax till you get to your gate.

Its the busiest airport in the country. And power issues notwithstanding, it is actually fairly easy to navigate. The signs are straightforward and impossible to miss

allow yourself a minimum of 90 minutes to get through security for a domestic flight and about 2 and a half hours for an international one.

It's very easy to find your way there, but it's a large, busy airport.

All airports I've been to, including Atlanta, but with the exception of LaGuardia, are designed for easy navigation. Large, prominent overhead signs point passengers to their gates or to the luggage claim areas.

Think of the Atlanta airport as a two dimensional Christmas tree. The underground people mover train tunnel forms a trunk and various concourses form the branches. The train stops at every concourse, from the station you take an elevator or an escalator up to the concourse.

If your boarding pass says, for example, Gate C10, that means gate 10 at the C concourse. Take the train to the C concourse, go upstairs and follow signs to the gate 10.

Here is a map of the airport, you can also find these maps throughout the airport.

Atlanta is big and busy, but it is well-marked and easy to navigate. There are signs everywhere, and it's not a confusing place.

  • Traveling through JFK airport with a firearm in my checked baggage? I'm flying out of JFK with a handgun in my checked bag, or at least I think I will once I hear y'all responses. I have heard horror stories about people getting arrested at the airport for not having a NYC permit. I DO NOT have an NYC permit, I live in PA and have my PA and FL Permit, only traveling through JFK airport, not staying in NYC. Does anyone have any expertise or experience doing this.
  • First time booking through trip.com and my flights are with Scoot and Cebu Pacific Airlines. I'm unsure where I can checkin and put add ons? Is there an option to check in and add some add ons through trip.com or directly with Scoot and Ceb Pac? However, I tried managing my bookings separately on their respective websites but they both say they can't find my booking or whatever… My flight is still in a month but I d like to worry about it now than when it's nearer and I doubt they won't appear there because I've had flights before that I was able to add to my manage bookings months ahead.
