Is a passport required to change planes at the NRT airport in Japan for a 2 hour stop?

If you are flying internationally you would require a passport to even board the plane. Depending on where your new gate is located it's entirely possible you will have to go through passport control.

I'd say if just changing planes then no you would not have to but why worry, no big deal if you have to show your passport again. But you said required to… You will show your passport before getting on the plane to go there or you will not be at the NRT airport in Japan in the first place.

Are you flying within Japan? If so, you need whatever is required there for domestic travel. If you're flying from or into some other country, you'll need a passport.

Your passport is required whenever an authority requests to see it.

Better to bring than not, in case of anything happens.

Possibly. Whenever you are travelling outside of your home country, you must have your passport available for inspection if a official demand to see it. If your connecting flight's gate is located where you must go through customs, they will demand to see your passport.

Yes

You always must have a passport when you are traveling internationally.

  • What's the best car route to JFK Airport from western New Jersey I-78, during evening rush hour? I'm flying out of JFK in a couple weeks. I will have my car, with reserved parking already lined up. I will be coming from the west on interstate 78. Should I try to avoid Manhattan and head south and go around via Staten Island? How much time should I allow? My flight is not until late, so I've got all day.
