Checking bags with british airways and virgin

I'm traveling soon and I have found so many flights that are virgin to british airways and then the same on the way back that are a great price. Can I check my bags all the way through if I book it? I read on BA's website that if you book the flight in one booking you can but I have not seen anything on virgins website and I want to make sure this can be done before I book! Has anyone else done it?

If you're travelling the same airline for the entire trip then your luggage will automatically transfer from flight to flight, you won't have to handle it between flights.

What route?

I assume through Heathrow. If both are international flights there's no need to clear customs so, in theory, the bags should be transferred if checked through.

Digging deeper, passenger experience is that VS and BA don't interline bags so you will have to reclaim your bag and transfer terminals and check in again, e.g.

… Or there's no problem

If you're going on the same airline the whole way, or with different airlines that have a codeshare agreement, undoubtedly they will be checked through the whole way. Why not call Virgin and ask them?

  • 30 inches 75 X 47 X 26 CM will that pass British Airways luggage? I be going away for a 2 week holiday to San Diego, California will a 30" 75 X 47 X 26 CM sized suitcase be ok to take to British airways?
  • British Airways menu? I can't seem to find an exact menu online for British Airways. I'm reading we will get a complementary 4 course meal on board that changes every 6 months. Anyone know what the currently menu is? We're leaving next week. We're taking an 8 hour flight out of the USA leaving at 8pm and arriving in London at 10am
  • Does British Airways Food Choices? Does British Airways offer you a choice of food for their standard meals while you are on the plane? Not the diet specific or up charged meals. This would be for a long haul international flight.
  • What airline am I flying with? Carrier is Air France but operating airline is Virgin Atlantic? I'm due to fly to Miami in September and I booked a flight with kiwi.com. The flight is with Air France however in the details it states that the operating airline for the flight is Virgin Atlantic. Does this mean I will be flying on a Virgin Atlantic aircraft or a Air France one?
