AA can't reserve a flight for you if you don't tell them what day you want to fly. Duh.

American also has an information page that provides details you should know for your "day of travel" - information that makes sure you are prepared, have what you need, and know what to expect.

There's a section on their website that provides "day of travel" information. Is that what you mean? That website provides information you might need to help you get through the airport and onto your flight without any trouble - telling you everything you need to have to travel and everything you need to do when navigating the airport.
If you were in the booking process (but you said you already have a reservation), this would more likely mean the information about the day you plan to travel - what day, what time, from where, to where, etc.
- American Airlines vs Delta vs United Airlines? I'm traveling from New Orleans to Miami. I'm using an app called trip adiviser and Skyscanner to get cheap tickets and would like to know which out of the three airlines are a better choice.
