Identification On Airlines?
On December 26th I will be flying from Boston MA to California on Delta Airlines. I'm 18 years old. I will also be the oldest one traveling. (I'm going with my 17 year old cousin) I do not have a drivers license, but I do have a permit. Can I use my permit as an I.D? I amso have a birth certificate and a college I.D. What should I use for my I.D?
Read what the TSA list as valid ids, if you don't have one of these, you can still travel, but will be subject to additional scrutiny, have birth certificate or other id may help speed up this process.
Driver's licenses or other state>>>>> photo<<<<<< identity cards issued by Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent)
The new temporary paper thing. NO
The plastic card with your PHOTO is good.
(I'm going with my 17 year old cousin)
CHILD should have something from their Parents authorizing you as escort/Guardian.
College I.D good for STUDENT Discounts It identifies you as a STUDENT.
TSA does not require children under 18 to provide identification when traveling with a companion within the United States. Contact the airline for questions regarding specific ID requirements for travelers under 18.
DELTA requirements
Travel Identification
- Domestic Travel: All passengers 18 years of age or older are required to present 1 form of government- issued photo ID
Something for your cousin is a good idea. Birth Certificate is enough.
If the permit is an actual Photo ID Card issued by the DMV in your state then you should be fine. If it is a "paper" Permit it would not be considered valid ID. Your B/C or College ID is also not considered valid ID.
If you have a Passport you could use that. If you have NO ID it doesn't mean that you can't get through TSA, it just means you will have to go through additional security checks. So bring what you have as form of ID, and be prepared to have it take a bit longer to get through TSA. This means that generally you want to be there 2 hours before for domestic flights, you need to be there at least 2 hours before and because there could be holiday travel I would suggest about 3 hours before.
Your cousin since they are under 18 do not need anything to get through TSA. If it makes you feel better you can bring it, it just isn't needed.
- American Airlines vs Delta vs United Airlines? I'm traveling from New Orleans to Miami. I'm using an app called trip adiviser and Skyscanner to get cheap tickets and would like to know which out of the three airlines are a better choice. If anyone who reads this has experienced anything life threatening or traumatizing on while using one of these airlines please share! Is Southwest Airlines a better choice than the three listed above?
- Why are American Low Cost airlines very good compared to European Low cost airlines? Hi. Ryanair and Easy jet suck in Europe. I was so impressed by JetBlue and South West in the US. They were just like legacy major airlines
- I did an interview for Delta airlines and in the video interview I accidentally said American Airlines? Has anyone else had this problem? I caught it very quickly and said delta immediately and kept saying delta in the other answers. Do you think it can cost me the next step of the process?
- American Airlines Seating? Booked a flight and the seats are scattered about the plane. My wife and I don't want my 5 year old son sitting alone for obvious reasons. There are no other seats available except for Main Cabin Extra for 65$ per ticket. Should I pay the extra to be together or wait to see if more equivalent seats open up?
