Is it true a day care can't be around a airport?
I work right next to an airport and my co worker has to pick up his daughter far away because no one can build a day care around an airport within a certain distance.
I didn't call on his bs because it may be true. Just another dumb government law that doesn't make any sense? Children can go inside airport of all ages and even on the airplane so why would it be illegal to build a day care near an airport? An airplane could hit my building possibly and if that's the reason that's pretty stupid
UNACCEPTABLE!
Constant elevated sound levels from takeoffs and landings all day long can damage young children's hearing.
Don't know of any "government law" that PROHIBITS a day care being operated on or near an airport… The choice of whether to allow such a facility would be up to the local airport operating authority. The only thing I could see is maybe there aren't enough airport employees who have young children who would actually use such a facility. These places don't operate for FREE, and SOMEONE would have to pay for it.
Why would it be illegal to build a… Near an airport?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$…
All Airports have restrictions on building ANYTHING near the flight paths.
In many situations land near the Airport is owned by the Airport.
The Airport likes the money they can get from leasing it to companies that make use of Airport stuff. For example the parking storage area for rental cars.
Cargo shippers warehouses, maybe a hotel.
I have never heard of a specific restriction for day care place, Seriously do you want your child's school your parents seniors home built near the end of the runway?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$…
GET it? The rental rate for space is often more than the care place is willing or able to pay.
Many day cares are locating in buildings that have for whatever reason have subsidized operation.
It might be from a nice building owner or a nearby business for their employees.
MOST cities do not have enough day care spaces. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Airport staff have a difficult time finding a day care place because of the shift times getting day care spaces. Most are not open at 4:00 A.M to receive the early shift or stay open until very late for the evening shift. Seven days a week.
Sorry I can't pick up the lad a flight has been diverted and I have to work an extra hour. Of course the workers love staying overtime.to care for the child with a few minutes notice.
The do gooders do not comprehend that an overnight care place for a night shift worker does not have to be a SLEEP only place. The children go home in the morning and do what while parent gets some sleep?
Day shift workers get to sleep at night with their children. Night shift workers are not allowed the same option.
The day shift bureaucrats know better.
For your situation it is a LOCAL regulation, zoning law or whatever. There's no Worldwide law for every Airport location.
This Airport has a day care two miles away.
Many place have them. Your city does not.Vancouver has one. Supported by the Airport businesses.
Australia has them
Japan's airports plan to open more day care centers on-site to promote employee retention

Sorry that your local officials have their heads in the clouds.
- How do ex Presidents fly around? How do ex Presidents e.g. Presidents Clinton, Obama etc., get around. Does the US Air Force fly them around or do they travel by commercial airlines or private jet? Thanks for the "sensible" answers. @Pilsner Man what is the significance of "buckwheat" or am I just thick. Not from US.
- Is getting around Narita Airport easy? So I'm going to Japan for 10 days in September and I will be landing at Narita Airport. I'm a little nervous I may not find my gate or check in counter. Is it easy to find my gate and is there people there that will direct me to my proper gate at the airport when I go back home to New York since it's a big airport and do most people there speak English?
- Would airport officials actually care if I flew abroad without my parents consent form? My parents are divorced, but have joint custody of me. To travel I need both their consent forms. What will happen if i travel without getting my dad's consent form? Would people actually care? I'm 16.
- Has anyone traveled around the country/world for at least 6 months? \? How was it? Did you get sick of traveling/going to the airport? Do you recommend it? I would be travelling by myself so I'm worried I would be lonely/feel like a loser sometimes.
