I'm flying by myself for the first time in a week and I'm quite nervous
So i'm 17 I have flown a few times before 5 times (well 10 if you count there and back) the last time was over a year ago, this isn't the first time flying without my parents as I went on a school trip but this it's my first time going to the airport by myself checking in, going through security, getting my gate boarding etc I use to not care too much about flying but lately now that I have to do it all by myself I'm quite nervous but I go in and out about being kind of scared and then other times I'm kind of came about it, I don't usually have seats beside who I'm flying with and the flight is only around 2hr30 mins( the longest i've been on is just over 3 hours) so I'm not sure why I'm scared/nervous so can anyone help any tips of what to do how to calm myself/ stop overthinking it anything at all that will help thank you so much
Be there early. Sometimes there are things that hold up the line. Try not to check in any baggage. Don't bring liquids or lotions with you. Don't be afraid to tell a flight attendant that this is your first solo trip. Ask advice or directions from anyone, passengers or airport workers. They should be happy to help.
You're definitely overthinking. Get there early so that you have plenty of time. Check in online if you can, which will save you time at the airport if you don't have any bags to check. Airports have signs everywhere directing you where to go, and there are plenty of people around who can help you too. Just take a second after each step to figure out what comes next and where you need to go.
Flying used to be OK but now it's a total pain.
First of all there's the total waste of time know as security. They go through your personal stuff telling you what you can and can't take with you. WTF? It's my stuff therefore it should be my choice not theirs. Then they put you through the indignity of being x-rayed and if you refuse that you get treated like a criminal just for wanting to travel somewhere. And what does all of this achieve - absolutely nothing apart from p155ing you off as you have to strand in a line for ages.
Once you've done that you than get treated like cattle when trying to actually get onto the damned plane.
My advice would be don't bother - as soon as I no longer need to (work means I have to travel) I won't be doing it anymore.
- Plane ticket has first, middle and last name but my passport only has first and last name? I'm flying Scandinavian Airlines and my plane ticket has my first, middle, and last name but my passport only has my first and last name. Does anyone have any experience with this or think it will be an issue? I called the travel agency and they told me they could not do anything to correct the middle name. I was also thinking about bringing another form of ID like a birth certificate or social security card to be safe.
- First time flying with stops? So is Christmas season and I'm traveling from the US to Mexico for the holidays, I have already flying from point A to point B but I never have from point A to point B and C ( or city stops) so I'm nervous. How early have to be on the airport? Is one hour enough to switch from one plane to other? How long can it take on immigration and still have to take the second plane?
- Going through immigration and costums at narita airport nervous never traveled abroad before how easy is it? I'm going to Japan in September and I have never travelled abroad I will be at terminal 1. What is it like going through immigration and costums. I have all the proper information as well. I know they finger print you and you sign a form on the plane. I'm flying from lax airport. I'm a but nervous. Will it be a breeze i'm landing at 7 pm
- Is it normal to be nervous when you are about to go on your first flight on a commercial airline by yourself? I've flown several times but Wednesday will be the first time I will have flown by myself. I'm a bit nervous. Not about the actual flying but just flying alone. I'm trying to look at it as adventure.
