What should I know about flying and first time?

This will be my first time flying at 19, but I'm super nervous. And also from NC to LA, so it will be a 2 hour flight. My plan is to get to the airport and get on the flight, fly to LA, catch an Uber to my hotel, the next morning then Uber to my audition. Uber from the audition back to the hotel, and the next day uber to the airport and head back to NC. I kinda don't have that much confidence in flying as I've never flown before and I'm kinda nervous to do so alone. I also am not sure about where the best places to sit at on a flight or anything. Someone help lol, it will also be a Delta flight if that means anything. Thanks.

Added (1). What should I know about flying for the first time and does my plan seem realistic?

You sit in your assigned seat. I didn't see another question. Do you notice how the newspapers report every day on the 100s of flights that crashed out of the 100's of thousands of flights?

The flying part is extremely simple (unless, of course, you are the pilot, copilot, or one of the attendants). You wait for your row to be called, walk into the airplane, stow a small bag with books, food, or other entertainment under your seat and a larger bag (if you have one) in any space you can find close to your seat in the overhead compartments. You sit in your assigned seat, which is printed on your boarding pass. You wait until the flight is over, collect your bags, and walk out of the aircraft.

Getting to your flight in the first place can be somewhat exasperating, since you have to go through TSA. You will check in to print your boarding pass and check any bags you don't want to carry on the flight (if necessary), line up at the TSA checkpoint, and show your boarding pass and photo ID to the officer. You will remove all liquids and gels from your bags, which must fit and be stored in a sealed pint-sized ziplock bag, as well as any laptop or large electronic devices, remove your jacket and your shoes and belt (if you wear one and it has metal on it), remove everything from your pockets, and put all of the above into one of the provided bins. You will push the bins and your bags into the machine just like everyone else does and either walk through a scanning arch or stand in a scanning booth when TSA tells you. You will collect your bags and other belongings, find your gate, not create an emergency with any shenanigans, and wait until your flight boards. At one point TSA recommended arriving 2 hours before your flight leaves to pass through security; I have never had it take longer than 1 hour, but the choice is yours.

Get over it simple child.
Millions of people world wide fly daily.
you got bigger chance of dismemberment disability death driving to airport.
you don't get to choose seat unless you want to waste money.
Try asking hotel if they have airport pick up drop off. FREE!

Maybe your doctor can give you something to relax you.

Just FYI, if you are going from NC to Los Angeles (as opposed to Louisiana - I'm not sure which LA you mean, but the fact that you have an audition suggests to me that it might be Los Angeles), then your flight will be more like 5-5.5 hours. Departure and arrival times are listed in local times, so it might look like the flight is only a few hours, but it's definitely more than 2. A flight to Louisiana might only be 2 though.

Since you are new to flying, you should be at the airport at least 2 hours before departure. You will need to go through security, which can take a while, and then get to your gate. Boarding generally starts 30-45 minutes before departure, and the airplane gate closes 10-15 minutes before departure.

Check out www.tsa.gov to read about what you can and can't take on the plane with you, and the rules about liquid/gel items in your carry-on.

Airports are easy to navigate - they are clearly marked.

Bring some things to keep you busy on your flight.

Everyone has different preferences about where it's best to sit. You may already have an assigned seat; if not, you can probably log into your reservation to choose one. I like aisle seats. Some people like window seats. No one usually likes the middle. I prefer to sit toward the front because it makes getting on and off a little easier. Some people like being over the wings, and some like the back. All personal preference.
