You will hold where and when the ATC tells you to.
Neither unless specifically directed by ATC.
You hold ON the airway at a specific fix or DME or published hold. Right hand turns unless published or cleared otherwise.
An airway's direction has nothing to do with how a published holding pattern might be associated with it. The holding pattern will either be the airway itself as the inbound leg, or be another radial to another RNAV or radio fix, such as the IAF of an instrument approach. The orientation and direction of the hold will either be published or instructed by ATC. The position of the hold (n, s, e, w, nw, etc) with respect to the holding fix is usually a matter of putting it in the safest quadrant… One that's not encroaching Restricted airspace, air traffic flow, obstructions, etc.
Two factors. First is wind direction, second is the flight pattern used at the airport.
- Do passenger air jets fly over the North Pole often on their way to other side of world (Ex. China) from North America? Was watching a documentary where someone left Canada on a passenger jet and they showed the flight going over the north pole to China would it not be kind of dangerous if they had to land and had to get out at the North pole? the cold air pressure is not too much for passengers inside?
- Diverted Flights Flights from Birmingham & East Midlands? To Edinbro and Newcastle. Barmy when LEEDS/BRADFORD AIRPORT is open with NO SNOW! Passengers having to travel by bus back to the midlands when other airports in the north of England can take them
- Will it be a problem to take my teddy polar bear on a flight from East midlands airport to Lansarote? He s not very big- about the same size as a small baby. I'm fretting we might have to leave him behind or they might cut him open.
- Can Air Koryo join One World if North Korea and South Korea get united and Air Koryo buys more Airbus or Boeing planes? Korea already has Star Alliance (Asiana) and Skyteam (Korean Air) airlines. If Kim jong un dies and these two Korea become one Korea, can Air Koryo join One World after buying more newer planes like the A320 or 737?
