Can you get buddy passes from retirees who are no longer employed by any airline they used to work at?

I would have thought once you leave the company, your flight benefits disappear with it. Maybe if you are some executive with the airline who retired. Just know that buddy passes are not as good as they used to be. Flights are now fuller these days so it is harder to get on a flight. When my mom worked at an airline in the 90s, planes were flying half-empty and we would use her buddy passes to fly to a few different places.
