Is China a safe country for Western tourists to travel?
In my city in America there are Airlines that transport people to China. Though I did read about the US State Department stating to use increased caution when visiting China due to the possibility of Chinese authorities arresting and detaining US Citizens and never being allowed to leave the country. But what do you say?
Millions visit without issue. Few have problems.
Go if you want.
We were there a couple years ago. Safer than American gun-infested cities. We were out late nights quite often. There are night markets- food, souvenirs, clothes, whatever. Wangfuching (wahn FOO cheen) market was great fun. If you ask an English speaking Chinese a question (where is…) a crowd of Chinese will form. Often a Chinese or small group will ask to be photoed with "white people"- your family! Drop all your fears and GO!
KNOW LAWS AND DON'T BREAK THEM.
Western tourist are generally fine. Depends on what Trump does. Canada is on the receiving end of having 2 people detained in China as collateral damage for the USA extradition request of a chinese executive.
- Do passenger air jets fly over the North Pole often on their way to other side of world (Ex. China) from North America? Was watching a documentary where someone left Canada on a passenger jet and they showed the flight going over the north pole to China would it not be kind of dangerous if they had to land and had to get out at the North pole? the cold air pressure is not too much for passengers inside?
- What's the best car route to JFK Airport from western New Jersey I-78, during evening rush hour? I'm flying out of JFK in a couple weeks. I will have my car, with reserved parking already lined up. I will be coming from the west on interstate 78. Should I try to avoid Manhattan and head south and go around via Staten Island? How much time should I allow? My flight is not until late, so I've got all day.
- Do I need a visa to connect in Shenzen, China? I'm traveling to Thailand in October from Chicago. On the way back to Chicago I'm flying from Bangkok to Chicago with a 4 hour stop to connect in Shenzen, China. All the information online seems to be all over the place on whether I need a visa to connect for my flight in Shenzen. Some say yes, some say no, some say a VOA and some say this particular airport has rules different from other airports in China.
- As a Canadian can I stay in a European country longer than my flight layover on the way to an Asian country? E.g. Leaving the Frankfurt airport as a stopover and staying in the city for a week before resuming the rest of the flight to Asia?
