Why is Oklahoma City's Airport named after someone who was killed in a plane Crash?

Because Will Rogers was a native Oklahoman.it is named in his honor

"William Penn Adair "Will" Rogers was a stage and motion picture actor, vaudeville performer, American cowboy, humorist, newspaper columnist, and social commentator from Oklahoma."

Not just "someone who was killed in a plane crash."

He was possibly the most famous person ever to come out of Oklahoma. It's better than naming the airport after some probably corrupt politician, like so many are.

Your premise makes as much sense as YOU donating a ton of money to a rehab facility for brain damage, and worrying that people would think you did it, because YOU were really, really mentally slow. Just sayin' …

Airports like to honor local people who have impacted the area in one positive way or another. Aviators, film and tv stars and politicians are the most commonly honored people.

He was a famous man born in Oklahoma.

  • Is it ok if I crash at an airport? I'm going to the JFK airport, and gonna land at 3 this morning. I'm not going to be in any shape to drive, and don't want to risk it, because I never fall asleep on planes. Is it ok if I crash for a bit before picking up my car?
  • Can you contact an airline or a plane to talk to someone who's there? I'm trying to contact someone who I dropped off at the airport, they left their phone and everything here with me and by now they're already in the air. Is there a way to contact the plane or airline to see if I can talk to that person?
  • Why didn't more planes crash at Hong Kong Kai Tak airport? It looked like a very dangerous airport with pilots having to fly close to mountains and high-rise buildings and making a sharp almost right angle turn to line with the runway manually. Why were there so few accidents and crashes? Why didn't more planes crash into the skyscrapers like on 9/11?
  • Give someone else your plane ticket? Me and my family recently bought plane tickets to go to Florida. My dad unfortunately isn't able to go on the day that we fly out. We're flying Spirit Airlines. Is there any way that we can transfer the ticket to another one of my family members, like my sister perhaps? Please help, I would really hate for me to spend all that money on a ticket and have it go to waste.
