Backpacking to the Phillippines for a month and my bag weighs 25lbs, am I able to carry it in the plane or do i have it checked in?

I don't want to have it checked in and worried that the airline will tell me to have it checked in. My bag is also 44L.

It's usually based on the size of the bag and if it fits in their baggage testing thing - check with the airline.

You need to check the requirements of the airlines you're travelling with, as this varies from airline to airline. They will usually have the information on their page (weight and dimensions). Without having seen your bag, it sounds too big for a carry on to me, but don't take my word for it. Look it up.

How do you backpack TO the Philippines which is surrounded by water.

To your question about luggage, you need to check with your airline for carry on restrictions both in size an weight. Not all airlines are the same. It's easily looked up on their website.

Thats 11 kg most airlines allow 7 kg max in the cabin
better put it in your checked luggage

Check the hand luggage requirements for the airline you're travelling with to find out

Check the airline requirements. Most just specify size restrictions, and not weight, for carry-on bags. Some do specify weight restrictions also. If your bag does not meet the carry-on allowances for your airline then you will have to check it.

Depends on who you fly but as a frequent traveler to the Philippines your bag weighs too much to not check it. The average is 7 lbs the most I was ever allowed was 9lb but that was because I had a higher class ticket
Most Asian based airlines specify weight and are very strict about it

Size is more important than weight for carry on luggage. It has to fit in the overhead storage compartment.

I suppose you mean 'backpacking IN the Philippines'.

Sounds like check in baggage do to size. Also depends on type of plane. Some have larger overhead bins. Check with the airline on there sight. It normally tells you there.
