Is it possible to work as an Aircraft Mechanic (A&P) and a Pilot for the an airline?

I'm going to get my A&P license soon and I've decided to do my pilot training next. I was wondering if the airline companies would hire me as a Pilot and an Aircraft mechanic at the same time?
Just to be working as a Line maintenance guy when i'm not flying.

No, you are either one or the other. It won't be a problem for you anyway. They don't hire Bob the pilot. You have to have Military training for most jobs.

Being a A&P takes ALL your time, plus keeping qualified as a pilot will take up any time you may have extra. SO, you can't do both even if a airline let you.

It used to be a flight engineers role.
Many airlines had them. As 3rd pilot.
Not these days.

Many airlines do not even carry out their own maintenance now.

Which is it going to be, Skippy? American A&P Mechanic or European Aircraft Maintenance Engineer? While the two licenses are similar, they are NOT interchangeable. And NO! You WILL NOT be hired as a pilot at the same time as you are working as a mechanic.

Of course not do you lack any common sense?
