Can you get clearance to land a remote control airplane at the airport?
You are kidding right? Why in the world would you even want to do that? NO, unless you mean a REAL DRONE at a Military Air Base! Or there's an "airshow" that has a request to use one for the "show" factor.
In fact if you are within 5 miles of an airport you have restrictions… https://www.aopa.org/go-fly/aircraft-and-ownership/drones/best-practices-for-flying-your-drone-near-an-airport
Several PRIVATE airports are closed each year for model airplane events. Some for up to two weeks at a time. At Oshkosh each year, they have RC demonstrations. It's doubtful that you can get "clearance" to land an RC, at an active airport. Don't even try! RC and full size aircraft don't mix well. Under current FAA UAV regulations you must be several miles from an active airport to fly RC legally.
You can try asking them for permission and see what they say
- How long can you stay at an airport for after you Land? So I'm heading to Los Angeles (LAX) and I land at 11Am but I can't check into my Airbnb until 3pm. I can just sit at the airport for like a hour or two just to kill some time before I need to check in? Or is that a security threat?
- How do i figure out if a large plane can land at a certain airport? I'm making a game and it involves airplanes among other vehicles being stationed in cities, now each city may have an airport, but I need to know if there's any way to figure out if a plane as large as a 747 or an antanov an-225 can land at one, is there an airport class size? Runway length? How does that work? I need to figure this out for about 600+ cities airports so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
- Is it common for airline pilots to miss the airport and have to make a U-turn to land? I was wondering because it was my first time flying and the pilot flew over the airport at first, made a U-turn, and then landed on the runway on the way back. Is this common for pilots to miss their airport on the first go?
- Do civilian aircraft mechanics require a security clearance? I understand that places like Lockheed Martin probably require their aircraft mechanics to have security clearances, especially when working on military projects. But what about normal airlines such as Delta, etc. How common are civilian aircraft mechanic jobs that don't require security clearances. I tried search engines, but all I get are job posting websites that don't answer my question.
