United Airlines baggage allowance?
I'm traveling economy with united airlines and from what I understand you can have a purse/backpack, carryon, and one checked bag under 50lbs free of charge. It this correct?
Check the american airline web page to find out for sure
Yes. The backpack should not be huge. I usually use a small backpack or a tote and put my purse in it. And you can take more luggage but it will cost you, a lot.
It depends on where you are traveling to/from, but you generally do NOT get any free checked baggage with an economy ticket. There's a calculator here, where you can enter your flight information and find out if you get any bags for free and/or what your baggage charges will be.
You can take a carry-on (for the overhead) and a personal item (for under the seat in front of you) for free. However, if you purchased the new Basic Economy ticket, then you only get a free personal item.
On our recent roundtrip flights between Portland and Denver on United, we were allowed one "personal item" such as a purse, plus one carryon such as a small suitcase which would fit in the overhead compartment or under the seat ahead. Checked bags would have cost extra. I suggest you talk directly with United. Perhaps they have more than one kind of economy seating for your flight, or frequent fliers might get special consideration.
For an economy ticket, checked bag is $25 for the first bad, under 50 pounds, one way. The carry on, others have stated. All baggage rules are on t he United web pages.
That depends on the fare class you bought. The most restricted ticket (usually the cheapest) you are limited to 1 item that MUST fit in the seat in front of you. You are not allowed the second overhead carry-on unless you are a part of their program. And unless you are part of their award program, you would have to pay for checked baggage, or depending on the fare type you purchase.
- American Airlines vs Delta vs United Airlines? I'm traveling from New Orleans to Miami. I'm using an app called trip adiviser and Skyscanner to get cheap tickets and would like to know which out of the three airlines are a better choice. If anyone who reads this has experienced anything life threatening or traumatizing on while using one of these airlines please share! Is Southwest Airlines a better choice than the three listed above?
- Spirit airlines baggage fees? We're three people flying and when I looked online, it showed the price of the first bag was $50, the price of the second was $60, and the price of the third was $100 (based on at-the-counter check in prices) do these prices apply to one person? As in, if each of us had only one bag, would it be $50 per person, or since there's three bags would it be $210 based on the fact that there are three bags?
- How does checked-in baggage work with layover/multiple airlines? Will be flying to Romania. I start with Iberia Airlines and layover in Barcelona for about 2 hrs. Then I fly to Bucharest with Blue Air. Normally when flying with layovers, it's one airline so I know it's forwarded to my final destination. But this is my first itinerary where I switch airlines at my layover; would that mean my baggage is forwarded to Blue Air anyways, or do I need to pick it up and check it in a second time?
- Hawaiian Airlines Baggage Size Leeway? Hawaiian Airlines specify that the dimensions of hold luggage should not exceed 157cm when added up. The sum of my suitcase's dimensions however is 164cm. I've asked them and they say I could face oversized baggage charges of $100 for each flight I travel on, just for these few little centimetres. My questions are: how do they even know if a case is mildly oversized? Has anyone ever gotten away with oversized cases with Hawaiian?
