Will i be denied boarding if i only use my initials?
I've recently booked a ticket with areoflot airlines from riga to Colombo my full name is EvanaHennedigePoornamaSanjula De Silva. (desilva being my surname) but my eticket says EHP SANJULA DESILVA. Will i be denied boarding?
Probably not.
The Airline nor the Security need to let you pass if they can't figure out who you are.
YOU DECIDE
Make it easy for them to check you out.
OR
Be difficult and make it more complicated than necessary.
If they are not sure they hold you while they figure it out.
IF this delay causes you to miss your flight TOO BAD for you. You do not get a free next flight out ticket.
The identification you show is to match the name on the ticket.
Colombo Officials do not have to let you enter the country if they can't figure it out.
They may not have had time to do a complete check and you WAIT in custody while it is done.
TOO BAD your long name does not fit in many computer things. YOUR PROBLEM and no Agent has to figure it out.
They might let you pass with minor delay or take hours to figure it out. Or just say no not at this time.
The Agent processing you decides.
I don't think so. A lot of people's names get shortened on tickets. My full name is on my passport, but I generally put firstname initial lastname on my reservations and I've never had any trouble.
Yes, your first and last names need yo feelings on your boarding pass, if they don't match it will ve an issue. Call the airline and explain, they may change it without charges.
And your Passport shows your name is… At the very least, your Passport, boarding pass and ticket must match.
The name in the ticket must be the same as in your passport
Use the name written on your passport (or whatever other official documents you use) when you buy a ticket.
Having a long name is fine throughout life, except for official government documents which use antiquated information processing systems which work fine with 95% of names.
You might consider getting your name legally changed. There's an "addendum" page at the back of passports where name changes can be officially recorded to resolve this until a new passport is issued after the current one expires. Name changes are common with marriage, divorce, etc., so this should be straightforward to use.
When my new wife did this, officials would say "Hey, your name doesn't match", she would then flip to the addendum page and all was immediately well.
There's enough of your very long name there for the officials to be pretty sure it's you.

- Flying from the UK with Easyjet - will I need to visit the check-in desk if I already have printed off boarding passes & only hand luggage? I'm flying abroad later in March (from Manchester), just for 3 days, so I only need to pack a small carry on/hand luggage. We've been sent our boarding passes already and we can check in from tomorrow (28th), but I've never been through the airport without calling at the check-in desk first. What do I do? Go straight to security? I'm not sure. Any help and directions would be ideal!
- How do I pack carry on only when flying from summer to winter? I will be flying from Salt Lake City to Melbourne Australia in July. I will make a connecting flight in LA. It is about 90-100 in Salt Lake City and I suspect quite hot in LA also. I understand in Melbourne it will be around 40-50. I'll be traveling around Australia and New Zealand. I usually wear my heavy clothes on the plane but in hot weather? Is the LA airport air conditioned.
