Most of the time it's the same plane, so you just stay in your seat. If you do change planes, it'll be obvious where your suppose to go. Or you can ask someone. The airport has lots of customer service people you can ask.
I think for minors they'll have someone there who'll lead you to the right plane. You could call the airline and see if they still do that.
If you do miss your flight (it can happen), then you talk to one of the customer service people. They'll get you onto the next flight.
At any airport you look up at the huge monitor displaying
flight information
Atlanta is easy. When you get off the first plane, there will be an agent who can tell you which gate to go to. There are concourses A, B, C, and D. If you have to change concourses, there's a train. You follow the signs that say Baggage Claim, A, B, C, etc, go down the escalator and get on the train. Get off at your concourse. Go up the escalator and look for the number of your gate. 45 minutes is plenty of time. Lots of times, your plane leaves from another gate in the same concourse and you don't even have to ride the train.
If you can choose your seat (go on the Delta site 24 hours before the flight to check in and choose Change Seats), sit near the front of the first plane. That will let you get off much faster. Your cousin must have been in the back of the plane. It never takes 30 minutes.
You have good answers here already but if you do miss your connection, they will get you on the next flight out; so don't worry. (It happened to me there.)
When you check in, they should be able to tell you what gate you are landing at in ATL and what gate your next flight leaves from. However, that is subject to change. As soon as you get in the terminal, find a monitor and see what gate you need to get to. You can also download Delta's app and check once you land (when they let you turn your phone on in normal mode). I'm assuming that you are on Delta since they are the only airline that has flights to both Alabama and Virginia from ATL.
Delta is on every concourse. If your next flight is on a different concourse, just follow the signs pointing to the other concourses and get on the train (headed in the right direction--again, follow the signs). Get off the train and just head to the right gate.
Also, 'spose' is not a word.
Atlanta is big, but easy to get around. Departures are based around concourses A to D, on arrival check the departure board for your next flight, and head straight to that concourse. The trains are regular, but your 45 min window is tight, and doesn't allow for any delays. Try getting a seat close to the front on your inbound flight, as that will hopefully get you off quicker.
Atlanta is big, but it's easy.
When you get off your plane, find a monitor to locate the gate from which your next flight is leaving. There are really clear signs pointing the way, so follow the signs to that gate. Hopefully it will be fairly close (and on more regional flights like that, they often are). Head there as quickly as possible - don't use the restroom, don't stop for a snack, etc until you find your gate. Then you can see if you have time for that.
If you have any problems, ask an airline or airport employee. They'll be happy to help. There should be someone at your arrival gate who can answer some questions for you.
If you do find that you miss your flight, speak to the agent at the gate from which your missed flight left. They will make arrangements to get you on the next <available> flight.
A 45-minute layover is tight, but it's doable. I've done it myself in Atlanta and it worked out just fine.
FLIGHT # WILL BE ANNOUNCED SO LISTEN TO WHICH GATE you SHOULD GO TO WHEN THEY DO THAT… ENJOY…
Usted puede, apenas cree.
You need to be at the airport -1/2 hours before a flight now. They tell you two but security lines vary and it may take you ten minutes of 45. On your transfer flight in Atlanta it doesn't matter because you are already through security when you land so your friends 1/2 hour statement does not apply. Your second ticket will probable have your gate number on the second ticket. It may take you up to 15 minutes to get to your other gate at the most and you can ask the agent at the gate as you get off the plane.
Google also can tell you plenty. You can use your phone once you touch down. Put is ATL arrivals and it will tell you what gate you are coming into and ATL departures to see what gate you are leaving from using your flight number. There's a map in the airline magazine of the terminal and if you are on the same airline then you are almost certainly going to arrive and leave from the same terminal unless you are going overseas.
Don't sweat it. Usually you get of the plane and then walk down a couple of gates for your departure flight and then wish you did not have to hang around for 45 minutes.
- I purchased a flight through costco for American Airlines how can I find out if I have basic economy? I recently went on another trip and it was very clear I was purchasing basic economy tickets, but through costco I'm not sure. My last trip it said "Economy B" but for this ticket when I look online it just says Economy. I'm wondering if I can bring a bag and a personal bag.
