I'm in a situation where I have to choose between my dream job (Pilot job) or marry the person I love so much?
I'm in a situation which is pretty difficult. I'm 24 years old and I found an amazing woman who I would love to marry. She is 31 years old but lives in a different country, she lives in Malaysia, where I live in Germany. I just finished my flying training in the USA but i couldn't find a job because I'm a EU citizen. So I most likely would fly in Europe. I just started my Conversion which takes a about 1 year, but that's only the theory part and then the practical aspect would be around 2 months. There was a pilot work fair in Amsterdam where i had the chance to talk to some companies and people. I heard people are still waiting for a pilot job and i hear that people don't have a pilot job for 5 years after they training until now. I talked to company called Ryan Air which is really interested in me. But it would take me easily another 1 year of or 1.5 years, and I would even have to go to the USA to do my practical conversion (because they have a school who is also European approved). So I would be further away from her. All the training I have to pay for myself, it's only the my Boeing 737 training which will be paid by Ryan Air. My biggest concern is if I get married with her it's going to be more harder to pursue my dream especially when the aviation industry is hard to get a job.
If you marry a ' lady' from Malay you will be permanently broke. Have you actually meet in person with this 'lady'?
They make very good wives but they expect you to keep them and their extended family in the manner in which they would like to become accustomed to.
On the flying career, you are still a long way from achieving that as well, Ryan Air is a cut-price airline with very tight budgets.
The choice is yours but at 24 I'll tell you a little story from my truck driving days. This driver, way back when most trucks were very basic, had a dream job driving a truck with all the latest mod cons, it really was a home from home, which was just as well as he only went home once a week or so. His girlfriend of the time gave him the usual ultimatum, choose between her or his job.
His answer. " I can find another girlfriend any time but I'll never get another truck like this."
You can try flying the low fare airlines in Southeast Asia. They are hiring.
Like Percyqted wrote, 'I'll never get another truck like this". Careers are hard to come by. Girls are easily replaceable.
- How do airlines choose which planes to travel with? Like from Toronto to Cuba I took Sunwing boeing 737, but when I went again using Air Canada they used an Airbus A319. How do they decide? Like why wouldn't they use a boeing 747?
