Can i apply for short visa in china airport if my transit is for 17 hrs plus?
Going on holiday to asia from london and my transit is in chengdu airport in china for 17 hr plus. Can i buy a short visa from airport to go and see around?
I do believe that Chengdu is part of the visa transit program (applicable if you are traveling from one country to another with a layover in China, if you are going elsewhere in China it is not applicable).
However, I would consider whether you really have enough time. What time does your plane land? If early morning, great - if late at night, probably best to stay in the airport. Remember that the 17 hours is greatly reduced by the time it takes to deplane, you will have to gather your luggage and go through security and customs, obtain the transit visa… Then if you are going on to another country, you need to be at the gate at least an hour prior to takeoff so at the airport at least two hours prior to takeoff. You will have to go back through checkin, security and customs beforehand.
I would say that your 17 hours is now reduced to at least 11 or 12 hours… If during the day, is it worth it to carry your luggage with you for that many hours everywhere you go? What do you want to see (most things are distant from the airport, and China s traffic can be congested)?
I'm not trying to talk you out of it, just want you to have realistic expectations. Also, have a plan in case you miss your flight out.
- Why don't airports use steam catapults and transverse arrestor cables, like they do on aircraft carriers, for extra short take-off & landing? 1. Airports could be pretty tiny with runways no longer than a football field 2. Takeoff and landing (takeoff especially) would be *much* more exciting 3. Airlines could charge people more money because the experience would be much more fun 4. It would save a lot of fuel with much less taxiing around the airfield, and much less fuel used during the takeoff phase
- Why don't airlines have larger sized seats for plus sized people? They could probably charge a little more for them, instead of making the flying experience a nightmare for some people.
- Transit at Newark Airport(EWR)? I'm planning to transit at EWR this month. However, I haven't been to there and don't know the route or system. Arrival terminal is B and departure terminal is C I want to see how to get there and some points I have to care.
- Do I need a visa to connect in Shenzen, China? I'm traveling to Thailand in October from Chicago. On the way back to Chicago I'm flying from Bangkok to Chicago with a 4 hour stop to connect in Shenzen, China. All the information online seems to be all over the place on whether I need a visa to connect for my flight in Shenzen. Some say yes, some say no, some say a VOA and some say this particular airport has rules different from other airports in China.
