I don't see why not, i've done that

Yes, you can do that. Large airports are open all night, with maintenance and so on happening. There won't be any stores open, and probably only one restaurant. Things won't come to life again until 4:30 or 5 am.

It is a small Airport and you could sleep there. Be advised there's not much open at the time you will land until about 4 in the morning. Bring your snacks with you from your previous Airport. Dress appropriately or have it in your carry on for something comfortable for sleeping on a chair. SECURE your valuables. Sitting on them or between you and a wall

Suggest the Food Court area for a nap. Staff will be starting for the morning shift a short time after 3 AM at that time you may need to find another place to nap a bit more.

It is not uncommon for passengers to await long hours in a terminal for their departure times. They will sleep as best as they can in the seats near their boarding gate.

But for an overnight the usual practice is to stay at what are called an airport hotel. This is simply a hotel located within a few minutes by shuttle from the terminal. And the hotel often provides the shuttle for free.

The KC Airport Marriott is the closest to KCI. It goes for $149 a night. It doesn't appear to have a shuttle, but it's so close that a cab ride would be cheap.

Here's what the experts say

I don't know KCI, but I do know that not all airports have the terminal areas open all night. CLT I know closes everything beyond security. You can still stay outside of security. It's open to the public. Also note that even it if is closed you will get VERY LOUD announcements over the PA on a consistent basis for things like reminding your to keep an eye on your bags and the like. It will be a horrible night.

Whilst others have said it's ok, you are likely to be disturbed and your belongings are less secure whilst you are sleeping. It might be worth finding a reasonably price motel/hotel close to the airport and actually get some restful sleep and something hot to eat.
