I saw a Marine escorting the remains of another Marine at the airport and I just lost it. Has anyone ever seen something like this?

So I was going to San Francisco 3 days ago. As soon as the plane landed the pilot just put the speaker on and said something like " This is the pilot speaking. Welcome to San Francisco. Please remain seated. During this flight I've had the honor of carrying the remains of a fallen Marine. I'm going to inconvenience you
for a few moments while the escort disembarks the plane. As you go about your day please keep the family in your thoughts". As we all stepped out of the plane I saw this Marine saluting the casket who was coming out of the plane. It was so moving I can't even describe it. A few minutes before the pilot spoke I was actually laughing with a buddy thinking about partying in San francisco. Then this happened. As the Marine saluted the casket the was not a dry eye there. Everyone who had schedules just stopped. A man took his hat off. A Tsa worker also saluted the casket. It was just one brief moment but it brought tears to my eyes. Have you ever witnessed something like this? How would you feel? Regardless of politics I guess it's just human compassion. That Marine gave his life for you, me, and the rest of this country.

That's odd, you asked the same question a few days ago! You do realise that it is a breach of Y! A Community Guidelines to repeatedly ask the same question? Anyway, the event you claim to have seen did not take place! Out of respect for the dead and their families, removal of a casket from a commercial aircraft is very low key, whether the military are involved or not. Other passengers are never notified about a body being on the plane.

Yes, I have witnessed that way too many times.

I'd be upset. That's like finding out a serial killer was being transported on my flight

I'm a little skeptical about your story, as I have never in my life heard of a pilot announcing that the remains of anyone - marine or not - are also on board. I think your story is made up.

All military dead are brought in through Dover first, and no one announces this at all.

I don't believe you…
Why?

There have only been 2 Marine casualties in February 2018.
Based on where the accidents happened, they wouldn't have flown through SFO.

Besides all the other reasons listed by others.

You have selected a best answer, I will answer anyways.

I was a number of occasions when the remains of US military personnel came through in a casket at my airport. Always saluted since I appreciate their services and sacrifice to the US Plus I appreciate the services of all personnel of US wars past and present. Period
