When I created a Delta account they say my Passport needs to be verified at the KIOSK. What does this mean?

I'm an international traveler, who have already booked a flight to the USA for the summer. I'm also a bit of a noob with regards to taking planes and doing international travels. So please kindly explain to me what it is to verify my passport at the Delta "KIOSK" after I arrive at the airport. I'm travelling with Delta airlines for my trip to the United States.

It just means that when you arrive at the airport, you need to go to the Delta check in for your flight. They will want to see your passport to make sure that you are the person in the photo. If you booked the flight and gave your passport number, they will check that the numbers match.

There's an ATM-like machine that will scan your passport.

Same answer, different angle. If it were a domestic flight you could get a boarding pass online, not check any bags, and just walk into the airport and get on a plane without ever talking to a human. Since it is international, you need to show your passport to an actual person so they can verify who you are. It's the law.

It means that if you are flying on an international flight, you have to either swipe your passport through the reader at the kiosk at the ticket counter or show it to an agent at the ticket counter.
The kiosk is the electronic machine in the lobby where people can check in without involving a person. They are at pretty much every US airport. Starting overseas, you will probably check in with an actual person.

All airlines expect to see a passport when you are travelling internationally, even if yo verify the details entered on your booking, where for the USA, you are expected to complete the APIS data relating to you and your passport details. Airline that allow incorrect data can be fined. As you've booked a flight, make sure you have registered for an ESTA

They want to make sure you have your passport with you.
