What causes airfare prices to be incredibly cheap at times?
For example: On atleast 3 different occasions, I have stumbled upon airfare from Milw, WI to Phx, Az For only $40 one way.
It is usually Frontier airlines. Which offers these deals. But last time it was American Airlines.
What causes flight prices to be this low? When can I get lucky and find something this cheap again?
Unbooked seats close to the departure date are what causes the fares to be low. The goal of the airlines is to have a but in every seat on every flight. Giving you a cheap fare is better than an empty seat and no fare at all.
Seat filling, i helps cover he fuel for he flights in the first place. Not a profit thing.
Cruise ships do the same thing, but don't expect these deals during prime holiday or commute times.
Marketing, competition, and supply & demand.
How many people want to go to Phoenix in July?
Unbooked seats…
Lack of demand for seats at those times. With booking available on line, airlines can calculate almost by the hour which will be the busy and slack times. The aircraft has to fly on schedule, so some money is better than no money for the airline.
Were I live. The trade winds coming a week early or late. As they bring the rain. They come a week early. The tourist stop coming. They go home fast. Airlines change routs. Flights are canceled. They come late. They extend flights drum up business with discount flights. Get some Government money to keep the tourist here. They spend money. Hotels can throw in fast packs. So much a week to stay there with airfare that week in the low season or monsoon season can be cheap tickets. Target Countries with them. Koreans often like to flee the cold for warm topical rains. We have 4 seasons here. Wet, dry, wet, dry. As we catch both easterly & westerly trade winds.
- How do you know if Turkish Airlines will raise or drop the prices? A week ago i checked for prices from Boston to Venice and it was over $1400 and a few days later it dropped to $1115. The tickets are for June 29(ish, whenever it's cheaper) till July 15th. How do I know if the prices will raise or drop? Should I buy it while it's cheaper or wait and risk it, hoping they will go lower…
