Why do Japanese people think I'm Japanese?

I was on an airplane from the US to Japan, heading to Vietnam(where my family's from.) The flight attendant asked me what I wanted to eat in Japanese until they realized that I'm not Japanese. While I was in the airport, someone else said I look Japanese. Is this strange?

Added (1). I was on ANA

You must just look Japanese. It isn't odd. You might dress like one.

Big deal. On Finnair they thought I was Finnish. Why are you making a fuss about this, unless it's to draw attention to yourself.

Which airline?
Probably ANA or JAL. That happens to most Asians. Depending on the airline, I get spoken to in Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Japanese, Tagalog, Thai, Hokkien, and once even a "excuse me, do you speak English sir?" (Wtf?! Lol) when flying to Asia.
On the way to Europe, I get mainly french.

Are you an Asian? Basically, many Asians look similar, particularly east Asians. So you just look like Japanese.

Maybe you do look Japanese for a Viet

A Polynesian co-worker of mine didn't look Japanese to me at all, but Japanese asked him all the time if he was Japanese. This happens to everybody who shares the same racial group.

Nothing strange about this. You mean you can tell the difference between a French, British, German, or American just by their appearance?
