Is there pilot shortage in usa and worldwide?

And what is being done to address the pilot shortage in the airline industry and in regional airlines because being a pilot requires a lot of training if the trend continues the next decade will pilotless planes happen because i really hate the idea of pilotless airplanes i know planes already fly themselves but the pilots are there just in case something goes wrong

Lots of passengers would not get in a plane without a pilot you always need a pilot in case something goes wrong

Same with autonomus cars you always need a human driver in case something goes wrong i know people want to get places faster but in a car without a driver in it it would ruin the fun of driving for some people and people don't want to givr up control to a machine

If people hate driving i would take a train or a bus to my workplace you always need to be in control of your vehicle in case something goes wrong and it is easier for hackers even if they design it well hackers will always find ways

Same with trucks buses you always need someone to be behind the wheel because you never know when something goes wrong

Yes there's as the various air forces are not training as many as they used to.

At this time, they are hiring the flight instructors at flying schools to make up the shortfall. Which of course will result in still fewer pilots a few years from now.

Until airline companies start visiting high schools recruiting pilots, I will have to assume the world wide pilot shortage, is about the same as it has been for the past 50 or 60 years. A sales gimmick for pilot training schools!

Yes. A southeast airline rep visited my. Class. They are loosening up their requirements. Also said there will be 5 A & P's needed for every pilot.

Not just pilots. The biggest problem in the USA is the baby boomer generation is now retiring. We're losing doctors, nurses, pilots, etc at a rate of hundreds a week. There are not enough people in training to replace them. Adding to that, they "improved the qualifications" of training so where you use to have hospital run nursing programs they are now all AD and BS programs, which cost a lot more, more than many people can afford. Same with all the other professions. Same with pilots. The USAF does not take 1000 guys and enter them into pilot training with the idea that half will fail, they start with 250 and make sure they will pass, even if they should fail. It does not work. The FAA increased the number of hours you have to fly to just get to be a co-pilot. Assuming you can find a plane to fly for $100 an hour, you need to spend $100,000 just to get the required hours. They have made it so hard and expensive to be a pilot that the shortage is going to continue. What will save the military is robot planes, something that civilians will not accept in regards to airliners.
