Your government issued photo ID and your boarding pass are all you need to board the plane.

I strongly suggest you visit the TSA website to view what you can and can't bring in your checked and carry-on luggage.

ID for sure

You need a government issued ID that meets the REAL ID requirements. If your drivers license has a little yellow star in the upper right corner, that will work just fine. California has a yellow bear with a white star on its but to signify the ID is valid.

If you look at the website of the airline you will be on, they will have all the info

do NOT look at the TSA site; there's no need to

Probably ID and a passport or visa

You need a REAL ID card when you check in at the ticket counter for your airline. Passports and military ID cards are acceptable. Your driver's license may not be a REAL ID card. So don't count on it to identify yourself.

You should take your check-through and carry-on luggage with you. The max is 50 lbs for the check-through. And you can only have one carry-on that is small enough to fit into the aircraft overhead or under the seat in front of you on the plane.

And that's all you need. Go up to the ticket counter, tell them what flight you have a reservation on or that you want to take, and they will fix you up with a boarding pass, which you show the security people when you go to the gate. Then you'll show it again at the gate when you board the plane.

Show up at the airport two hours before the scheduled departure time for your flight. It might take a long time to go through the security checks.

Some common sense would help.

ID. You should also have a record of the booking reference.

Picture ID, loose clothes and no prohibited items in your carry-on.

Your govenment-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license, state ID card, passport, etc.). You will also need a boarding pass, which you get when you check in for your flight. You can check in online starting 24 hours before departure by going to the airline website, logging into your reservation, and following the steps to check in. Or you can check in when you arrive at the airport (at least 2 hours before departure) on the day of departure. Just go to the airline counter, give them your name and ID, and they will find your reservation and print your boarding pass.
