Have flight prices massively gone up after the Ethiopia Airlines plane crashed?

Earlier today, I looked up round trip tickets on Delta from Atlanta to Tokyo in July and the tickets were over $3,300 a person! I've never seen them cost that much! Has this happened because of the Boeing 737 MAX aircrafts have been grounded since the plane crash happened in Ethiopia? (I'm also aware that a crash happened back in October with the same type of plane in Indonesia) It just seems ridiculous that a round-trip ticket on Delta non-stop from Atlanta to Tokyo would cost that much. Will tickets ever come down? My dad and I were planning on going to Japan this summer and we don't want to spend that much on tickets…

No. If air fares are affected by a crash they go lower. Check the fare again in a day or two, and check for travel dates around the date you want to fly.

If you're only looking at flying Delta, their prices are usually pretty high conpared to other airlines.
