First time flying? Liquid rule and what to do after arriving at the airport?

It's my first time flying so I've been trying to watch some videos on what not to do while going through security and in a lot of the videos liquids are shown in clear plastic bottles. My makeup bottles are glass but are only 1 oz so I had assumed that it was okay to just leave them in their original packaging and put them in a plastic bag since they're less than 3 oz but should I put them in plastic bottles just to be safe?

Scoping through various websites (including the airline's) on TSA regulations doesn't specify anything pertaining to glass makeup bottles. I'm assuming that the liquid rule only applies for liquids that are originally in containers larger than 3 oz but I would rather be safe than sorry.

Also tips for what to do upon arriving at the airport would be super helpful because it's holiday season and I know the airport will be very busy so anything to help avoid headache is appreciated. Like checking in, what to do after going through security, etc.

ALL liquids/ gels/pastes are treated the Same- if in Carry on they Must be 30z or less and in One ziplock bag for viewing

Glass or plastic, clear or opaque, security doesn't care as long as the size is correct and they all fit into your one-quart ziptop bag. The only consideration is of course that glass can break; however, unless you plan to drop your carry-on bag off the top of a building, not much can happen to your carry-on luggage that would break glass.

Get there at least 2 hours ahead of flight time, 3 for sure if it's an international flight. More time never hurts especially at every busy times. If you are checking luggage, you will have to do that at an airline counter. If you have not printed your boarding pass before you get to the airport, or have it on your phone if your airline does that, you can do that at the counter or at the self-serve kiosks nearby.

Once you have gone through security, you can do anything you want as long as you arrive at your gate by boarding time. Large airports have shops and restaurants etc after security. They also have websites with maps showing what there's. Since you're a first time flyer, I suggest finding your gate right away so you know how to find it and know how long it will take you to get back to it. Then go and do whatever you want. But don't leave the secure area. You'll have to do it all over again if you do.

Make sure to check with your airlines to see what they allow you to carry on

What the bottles/jars are made of is of no importance. All that matters is that they must be no larger than 100 ml / 3.4 oz in capacity.
You can carry as many as will fit into a one-litre clear plastic re-sealable bag (like a Ziploc). Only the bag has to be transparent.

You don't even have to have different products in each of the bottles: if you want to fill two of them, or even ALL of them, with shampoo you can.
What you can't do is bring along a container larger than 100 ml, even if the liquid inside is less than 100 ml.

It's my first time flying.
EVERY frequent flyer had their first flight. Welcome to the world of flying.

There are only TWO websites you need to look at. YOUR AIRLINE and Security (TSA)

My makeup bottles are glass but are only 1 oz so I had assumed that it was okay to just leave them in their original packaging and put them in a plastic bag since they're less than 3 oz. YOU ARE CORRECT.

Should I put them in plastic bottles just to be safe. Glass bottles do break. YOUR CHOICE.

Pack well and not an issue.

Scoping through various websites (including the airline's) on TSA regulations doesn't specify anything pertaining to glass makeup bottles. TRUE. They do not care if it is plastic, glass, or some revolutionary self designed container

I'm assuming that the liquid rule only applies for liquids that are originally in containers larger than 3 oz but I would rather be safe than sorry.

You have misunderstood this aspect of the rules.
Larger containers can go in your checked luggage. On board for carry on. The size of container you are using is what matters. That you have it in gallon tubs at home does not matter.

Also tips for what to do upon arriving at the airport.

Seriously you need the obvious.
PROCEED to check in. For your Airline and flight.
Once you have checked in proceed to Security. You are allowed to ask directions. Most just follow the signs.

After sercurity you make your way to your gate for boarding.

IF see that IF you have extra time you may want to get something to eat, purchase some beverage for your flight, maybe some souvenirs.
Many will make a toilet stop. The ones on the ground are much more comfortable than the ones on the plane.
WATCH YOUR TIME the plane may depart without you as you wander around.

Suggest you unplug ONE ear and actually turn your head side to side and PAY ATTENTION to what is going on around you. Texts and phone calls can wait a minute or two while you do what you need to do.

There are many first time flyers at Airports everyday. Uniformed staff are around to assist you getting to where you need to go. You use the old fashioned thing called TALKING to one of them for activation.

You may encounter a therapy dog while you wait. They too are there to assist

It is not recommended you ride on the outside of the plane. Get in and sit down.

You can leave your make-up in the original glass bottles. The containers can be glass, plastic, whatever - they do not have to be see-through. They must be smaller than 3.4oz (100 ml) and you can only take as many as you can fit into a single 1-qt baggie.

Since you are a first-time flyer and a little nervous, I'd arrive early - at least 2 hours before, but even more if you can, especially if it will be busy.

You can check in for your flight online starting 24 hours before departure; you can print your own boarding pass or send a mobile pass to your smartphone. If you only have a carry-on bag, and are not checking one into cargo, then you can skip the check-in desks when you arrive at the airport. But if you do not check in online AND/OR you have checked bags, then you do need to stop at your airline desk when you first arrive.

Security is next. You will show your ID and boarding pass here. Then, you will put your belongings on the belt for the x-ray machine. You need to take electronics and your liquid bag out of your carry-on, and also remove your shoes, belt, and any outerwear. You'll also have to empty your pockets. You will go through the body scanner and then pick up your items on the other side.

After security you head to your gate. The gate might be on your boarding pass, but you can check the monitors at the airport if not. There are very clear signs in the airport, directing you where to go. You should arrive at your gate at least 30 minutes before departure.

Nope- they don't care about sharp glass, but 3 oz of water can take down a plane. It's not just liquids either- deodorant, toothpaste, play dough, anything that isn't solid (or that they want) is game for them to take. You can take a bottle of soda and put it in 10 small bottles if you want- TSA think. What you can do--- get used to long lines, lots of yes sir!'s to minimum wage workers who can make your travel hell, don't take anything you don't want taken from you.

You have selected a best answer, but I will answer anyways. I'm assuming you are traveling from or with the US

For carry-on. Anything that is liquid, gels, or aerosols need to be in a container no larger than 3.4 oz. (100 ml.) and placed in a single one-quart plastic bag. Once at the x-ray remove the bag from your carry-on and run it separately from your carry-on through the x-ray.

If placed in checked baggage, there's no restriction, you can bring aboard as much as you want if placed in checked baggage.
