Is there travel assistance for mentally disabled people?

I have severe, crippling anxiety and am also autistic (on the higher functioning end but autistic nonetheless) and might be flying both alone and internationally for the first time next year. In all honesty I don't think I could manage this form of travel alone but I don't have much of a choice and it got me thinking, are there any kind of programs or something that provide help for mentally disabled people to travel successfully?

I know it's a stretch but honestly if I could just have like a "travel buddy" assigned to me to help me navigate the airports properly and give me direction I'd be golden lol.

You can pay for someone to travel with you, just as physically disabled people have to. If you just need help in the airport then the airline will help. You will have to call and ask. Also contact charities that work with the autistic.

Depends on which country - this site covers all English speaking countries. Check out Airlines for people who need assistance, etc.

Most airlines will provide assistance in the airport, but it has to be arranged in advance. Call them well in advance of your travel to see what they can do for you.

Not, knowing your location, I think a good start would be local branches of mental health charity/association

Is there assistance? YES
Is it FREE? Probably not.

Airline staff are not your private medical care team. They can assist you they can't be at your side the entire flight.

If you need a care giver it is up to you to get one. The rate for their seat will depend on the Airline.
The also charge for their TIME. They are working the entire time they are with you. Do you need help at this other place?

Getting to your Hotel, Checking in or whatever it might be?
WHO DO YOU EXPECT to help at this far away place?
The Airline helps ends at the Airport exit doors.
You MIGHT be flying internationally? Really YOU WILL BE?
The other country will decide if you can enter. Suggest you investigate if this other place will let you in.
Then you investigate the local availability of a travel helper.ASK YOUR DOCTOR.

Just needing help getting through the Airport is easy to get. Is that really all the help you need?
YOU and only YOU know if this is an HONEST answer.

NO ONE can guess at what help you may need. NO ONE can guess as to the severity of your issues.
It is up to YOU to talk with the AIRLINE and YOUR DOCTOR about what your needs are and what help you may need.

Only if you pay for someone to accompany you. The airlines will not provide any such assistance. Nor will the airports.

You will have to call and ask.

  • Booking plane tickets for multiple people? So me and 2 of my best friends are going on a trip in December, and I was wondering if we should all buy our tickets separately or if we should give one person our money and they buy it for all of us. We plan on taking Alaska airline and I don't know if we can still get the same seats if we all buy our tickets separately
  • How is it that people manage to sneak onto airport flights? From my understanding, you can't make it past security, without a ticket, nor a boarding pass, but even if they didn't have a luggage, it would still be impossible, I imagine.
  • What was the screws made of in 1970s for people with hip diysplasia? Will I get through airport security with screws in both my hip from hip dysplasia and also pins in my legs. I heard the new screws that are used now do get through security but what was the old ones made of exactly. Titanium, metal, ect.
  • Will people stop flying southwest airlines from vegas to lax or lax to sfo due to engine failure? Will southwest airlines go bankrupt because people say first united drags people off of planes now southwest airlines is killing people because a woman died on southwest flight I don't think it is the airlines fault the pilots did great they were navy air force pilots Is southwest airlines not good and safe anymore due to engine failure and a passenger who died Is this is like a fatal crash that hasn't happened in awhile
