Can you switch your flight with another airliner?

My mother works for American Airlines so I get free flights. I'm going back home to Atlanta but my flight has a long lay over in Dallas for 6 hours. It's a 6:00 am flight that's on delta. Mom has flown delta before coming home from work because one of the flights was full or whatever. I kinda already know the answer but I was wondering because I'm in south bend Indiana. I doubt that flight will be full. I have my booking info would I even have a chance to maybe be able to get on that flight?

Only if you purchased a ticket

No, you can't.

No. Certain employees, namely flight crew who are transferring FOR immediate work assignments can be put on another airline but you would be using a buddy/family pass and therefore can only fly on American Airlines and or an affiliated partner airline. Airlines have agrerments for certain crew to transfer on other airline's in exchange for allowing other employees transfer. It's still space available but the crew are at the top of the waitlist. This is mainly for flight crew who may be operating a flight out of an other airport and need to get there sooner than their own airline can provide.

Not without purchasing the other ticket.

You can't change flights.

You can book a ticket on the other airline (but you won't get refunded your original flight)

No

I have a friend whose son is a pilot with American. She does sometimes fly on other airlines, and I think she has to pay, but it's a reduced fee because of an agreement among the airlines. Your mother should know about that if I'm right. Certainly, the easiest way to get to Atlanta is on Delta!

I don't understand why you're asking us, instead of asking your mother or even the airline. Don't you think they would know better than we do?

Other airlines will normally only accept passengers with a ticket for their airline, so Delta would need a Delta coupon. I think you'll just have to wait it out and get your schedule flight.

You get free flights with AA. Not with any other airline.
