Can I become an airline pilot for a major airline if I go to college for a computer science degree (Bachelors Degree)?

And also why is their so much debt in order to be a airline pilot? Is it because of people choosing the "go to college for aviation" sort of route?

Yes, and you'd be wise to do so, i.e. Studying something other than aviation in case a pilot career doesn't work out. The airlines don't care what your degree is in, only that you have one.

As for what it costs, aircraft are expensive to operate, and you pay by the hour for your flight training.

Airlines don't care what field your degree is in as long as it's a bachelors degree. Getting a computer science degree is a smart decision because if you don't get hired by an airline or lose your medical, then there will be a big job market for your degree.

As for debt, flight training is VERY expensive if you don't go through the military, and flight jobs pilots go through to gain experience to become an airline pilot pay very little.

  • Can I still become an airline pilot? So, I'm 5ft and I wear glasses, but my prescription is very low, as in +0.25 and +0.5. I was told to be a pilot you need to be 5ft 2 at least, and you need perfect vision. Is this true?
  • What do I really need to become a pilot and work for an airline? Really, all aviation programs are extremely complicated to understand. Do I need a CPL? A bachelors degree? How does one become a pilot and work for an airline?

  • How do I become a commercial pilot? I have some questions in this regard: 1. Can I get a CPL by completing 250 hours on any aircraft such as the cessna 172 or a particular aircraft is required? 2. After getting my CPL can I join an airline as a FO before getting an ATPL? 3. What kind of course will I require to convert from the cessna 172 to an airliner such as the 737? And what is the average fees for such a course? 4. What else will I require after getting my CPL to fly as a FO for an airline?
