Bestway is to book during low season or midweek travel days.
MOST websites look for the fastest way. Not the cheapest way from the millions of possible connections that take longer.
All businesses including Airlines like to make profit. They make most profit when the plane is near full.
Up tp you to search out the flights with many unsold seats for a reduced price.
DO NOT expect the frills of First Class or what Full fare passengers get when you want the bargain rate. You PAY for the extras. Like luggage, a meal, a beverage.
Travel Agents spend their entire day booking travel for clients. They make their living using their experience to search out the deals.
You DO NOT have to do it yourself. As you like to be paid for your work so do travel agents.
Many online guides to search out low cost flights. Travel Agents already know them and many more.
Up to you to search out alternate Airports and routes to destination other than just the closest or fastest.

There are no tricks or secret websites for good airfare deals.
The best things you can do: (1) book early - at lesst 6-10 weeks in advance for domestic flights and 4-6 months in advance for international; (2) be flexible with your travel dates - flying on Tues, Wed, and Sat tends to be cheapest; (3) consider other airports near your departure and destination locations.
I use a site like Kayak.com to compare fares and then book directly with the airline who offers the best option. You won't find a better deal by booking wtih a travel site. However, some of the discount carriers do not allow their fares to be posted on travel sites, including Kayak, so it's also worth checking their sites individually to see what they offer.
Use the Companies travel agent. She booked lots of flights & had connections. Fly on cargo planes. Buy break leg tickets but don't use them.

- How to book cheap flight? I'm trying to book a flight from the Heathrow (UK) airport to Orlando (MCO) international airport. I'm using expedia.co.uk for a flight and it is showing the departure flight as 300 pounds and the return flight as 0 pounds. Why is the return flight 0 pounds? Other sites show the flights costing 600 pounds or more. Is there some sort of catch?
- Diverted Flights Flights from Birmingham & East Midlands? To Edinbro and Newcastle. Barmy when LEEDS/BRADFORD AIRPORT is open with NO SNOW! Passengers having to travel by bus back to the midlands when other airports in the north of England can take them
