Can our 17 year old fly by himself at Grand Rapids airport to family in florida?

Oh

Yes he can I'm 17 and I'm going to be flying to England all he needs is a guardian to give consent and a ticket!

Yes

I think so, yes.

If you have a pilot's license… Sure. You can get one at 14 yo you know. Younger than a driver's license.

Anyway, you probably mean via commercial flights. And the answer to that is still… Sure. In fact my son flew from FL to OH by himself when he was just 10 yo. His mom put him on the plane and his grandma met him when it landed in Toledo. The stewardesses (that's what they were called back then) looked after him while on the plane.

On Internal flights for sure. International flights have to be confirmed with the embassy and the airline,
Peace.

Does he have wings?

Sure

Yes, of course, Kids that age are not considered unaccompanied minors by the airlines and are on their own to get to the gate, etc. Children fly all the time you know- often to go from one parent to another in shared custody cases. For flights within the US, he just needs a driver's license for ID. If he flies internationally, he'll need a notarized letter giving him permission to fly and signed by both parents, as well as a passport.

YES
YOU also get to purchase the ticket and check in your child.
A CHILD does not arrange this. The PARENTS DO.
Children are allowed at that age to fly without escort.
Getting on the plane is dealt with by parental help.
