I have an upcoming trip at the end of Sept When should really start looking to book an airline ticket for this trip?
Today. Actually, as soon as you knew you were taking this trip. Prices do not GO DOWN - the seats get taken, prices go UP.
Domestic or international flight?
For a domestic flight, you may start in June
For an international flight, you should start in March
This is NOT a strict timeline. The best time may heavily depend on your route. Is it a competitive route such as JFK- London or a non competitive route such as Paris- Kinshasa?
It may also depend heavily on your destination. End of September is rather a low season for most destinations. But it is a peak season in the Indian Ocean (Seychelles, Mauritius, Réunion,…) with high airfares (then book much earlier).
The best time may depend also on your preferences. Are you looking for only non-stop flights or all kinds of flights?
Furthermore, it does not help always to check repeatedly airfares of a particular route (among other, with some operators who follow your web activity with cookies or on your IP address).
So, when your project is fixed, book your flight AS SOON AS you find a decent price. Airfares rarely go down. Don't rely on alerts (they are actually marketing tools aiming at making you a loyal customer of the provider).
More tips:
Maybe MORE important than the best booking time: choose the cheapest travel days (e.g. Midweek flights versus weekend flights).
- What do I really need to become a pilot and work for an airline? Really, all aviation programs are extremely complicated to understand. Do I need a CPL? A bachelors degree? How does one become a pilot and work for an airline?
- How much should a decent round trip airline ticket cost? A round trip airline ticket from Columbus, Ohio to Orlando, Florida, flying coach or economy? I don't fly enough to know a genuinely good price from a "too good to be true" or too expensive. Trying to decide whether it's worth it to just drive.
- What additional qualification should an airline pilot have? Aside from the licence and school/university education are there any other qualifications or courses that would set you apart from other candidates when applying for a job with an airline?
- If I brought a flight to Bolivia but end up not flying will Bolivia know about this and will this affect me if I try to visit again? I didn't go to the airport since I had an family emergency I didn't apply for a Visa or anything
