How do I pay for checked luggage at an airport?
I'm flying with United out of Portland, OR to Santiago (Dominican Republic) on Thursday. I've already called United but all I got was a bot telling me stuff about lost luggage. I've heard that most airlines don't accept cash for checked luggage fees, and I've bought a $50 prepaid Visa to hopefully cover the fees. Turns out prepaid Visas can't be used internationally, and if that's all true then I have no way to cover my checked luggage fees on my returning flight from the DR. Can I use cash to cover checked luggage fees both domestically and internationally?
You can't use cash, the United website details acceptable forms of payment: https://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/reservations/online/fop.aspx But surely you have a Debit or Credit Card you can use. Just how do you plan to pay for accommodation etc while you're away!
You can usually pre-pay the fee when you check in online, by putting it on the same credit card that you used to buy the ticket.
- Maximum Argan Oil and Olive Oil allowed in Checked Luggage? I'm planning to have 1L bottle of Argan Oil + 1L bottle of Olive Oil in my Checked Luggage. I'm Flying with TAP Portugal from Casablanca Airport (Morocco) to Europe. Is the amount I'm taking with me considered too much? Will it be subject to any extra fee?
- Why do some people who book Frontier wait till they get to the airport to pay for checkin luggage when it's more than when you pay online? Like you have a small fee online. If you wait till you're at the airport it's a bigger fee. Are these people irrational?
