Flying with a dog in the plane cabin?

I have an emotional support animal, so he is allowed to travel with me. I bought him a new creat and made sure everything was up to code because I wanted to send him in his kennel in cargo. He isn't exactly small, and I know some people are allergic and some are scared of dogs. I wanted to be kind to them by not taking him through the airport and in the cabin. Additional I bought he'd be more comfortable in his kennel because he'd have more room. Today I was informed by airline staff that 2 of my planes don't allow animals in cargo and he will have to ride in the cabin with me. He is around 50 pounds and about knee high. Any advice on how to keep him calm and happy would be appreciated. He's a well behaved dog and everything but new experiences can make him nervous sometimes.

The airlines are not very as obliging as they may sound. The space they have to occupy is right in front of you, down on the floor & somewhat under the seat in front of you. I took a 60 lb female Dalmatian as an ESA on a Delta flight from Albuq. NM to Superior, Mt. Very very cramped & some seats knee space was so narrow, she was too wide to fit in there. They had to relocate us & she couldn't be on the seats, she had to stay on the floor. It was miserable for her & very stressful for me.

Not all aircraft have pressurised cargo spaces. I would be checking with other airlines to see if your dog could be carried more suitably.

Just leave your PET at home. You are not disabled and you do not NEED this dog with you. I also doubt this dog is well trained enough to be inside the cabin of the airplane. If he's a nervous dog he's also likely to BITE someone and you will end up SUED.

Change airlines and find one that WILL allow a dog in cargo. I've never heard of dogs not being allowed in cargo unless it is EXTREMELY cold where you live and they worry about the time animals will be out on the tarmac before loading.

I wouldn't worry about it. Your dog belongs in the cabin with you. I'm so sick of seeing people here putting down emotional support animals. At least you are honest about it, unlike other the non-blind people who claim their dog is a service dog.

Its a pet therefore is not allowed to fly with you. It has to be in an under the seat carrier or in cargo. Leave your pet dog at home. If someone can't fly or function with out a damn pet then they need to be locked up in a hospital due to them being so mentally unstable they are a risk

Each airline has there own rules/regulations contact them and ask them. I for one won't do your research for you, nor is YA research.

Sorry, I don't believe you. Any airline would accept a dog in cargo as opposed to many won't accept a dog in the cabin. However I've only really done long-haul flights, other than a puppy I flew with, from London to Geneva. He was 4 months but went in the hold. I suppose some short-haul airlines may not have a pressurised cargo area but to say not in cargo when most would say quite the opposite, for a dog that big is odd.

Check again and find another airline that would mean your dog travels better, in the hold.
