WHAT IS THE ENTIRE PROCESS OF GOING ON HOLIDAY FROM BOOKING TO THE TICKETS TO LANDING IN THE COUNTRY AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN?
So I have just turned 18 and there are many important things that we're not taught and there's no other way us young people can learn these things. So someone please state the entire process. All I know is that somehow you buy tickets and then there's a whole process in the airport. (Please can you talk about visas, hotels, how long you can stay etc)
1) Decide what country you want to visit.
2) Learn which airlines fly there.
3) Visit the websites of those airlines to find out fares, ticketing requirements and baggage allowances.
4) Visit the website of the consulate of the country (or countries) that you want to visit to find out if there are any visa requirements or other legalities.
5) Visit the tourist websites of the country or countries to learn about hotels, places of interest, etc.
You didn't mention where you plan to go. The process varies from country to country.
I'm American, but I would start by getting a passport if I were leaving the country. You can Contact a travel agency and they (for a fee) will help you book a flight, rental car, hotel room and can even put together a daily itinerary that tells you what you will be doing throughout each day. They may even purchase tickets to the various places and events for you, so you have them ahead of time.
You can do all of this on your own, but if you are intimidated or overwhelmed by the process, you may find a travel agency's fee to be a good value.
Most young people learn these things by actually travelling and learning through experience, and many do their research before they travel. For instance to get information on the need for visas and the length of time you can stay in a particular country just go to that country's Embassy website and check. Also travel guidebooks, such as Lonely Planet, provide information on the need for visas, types of hotels etc, but it pays to get up to date info directly before you travel.
- Booking plane tickets for multiple people? So me and 2 of my best friends are going on a trip in December, and I was wondering if we should all buy our tickets separately or if we should give one person our money and they buy it for all of us. We plan on taking Alaska airline and I don't know if we can still get the same seats if we all buy our tickets separately
- Why don't airports use steam catapults and transverse arrestor cables, like they do on aircraft carriers, for extra short take-off & landing? 1. Airports could be pretty tiny with runways no longer than a football field 2. Takeoff and landing (takeoff especially) would be *much* more exciting 3. Airlines could charge people more money because the experience would be much more fun 4. It would save a lot of fuel with much less taxiing around the airfield, and much less fuel used during the takeoff phase
- My brother put the wrong date of birth when booking a holiday? Me and My stupid brother who is 21 are going on holiday together I will be 17 when we go on holiday. He has put my date of birth as 2000 instead of 2002 does it matter? It's the same birthday just the wrong year. My friend who is an air hostess said it doesn't matter because there's no date of birth of boarding passes or anything like that. Flying from a uk airport
- As a Canadian can I stay in a European country longer than my flight layover on the way to an Asian country? E.g. Leaving the Frankfurt airport as a stopover and staying in the city for a week before resuming the rest of the flight to Asia?
