Best airline to travel with if taking multiple suitcases?
I'm traveling within the United States. I'm planning to leave for two months. So it's a lot of clothes and necessities. I'm looking for an airline company that includes luggage. Most airlines allow a carry on and additional charges for luggage. Any suggestions?
Southwest gives you 2 checked bags for free. I think you'll be ok if you don't overpack.
A carry-on is no longer a given of included by airline. You need to consider your entire fare on each city to city. If the airline includes checked luggage as standard, generally the fares are higher. Advance purchase, day of the week, and schedules are all important.
Southwest Airlines includes two checked bags. Remember there's an oversize and overweight fee also on baggage that is too big or too heavy.
Most charge extra if you luggage is over 50 lbs
The major airlines give you one free checked bag and one carry on. The cheaper airlines will charge you for luggage. I've done 3 weeks at a time out of a carry on sized suitcase- pack carefully and plan on washing some things out, or going to a laundromat.
Southwest still allows you to take 2 free checked bags, a free carry-on bag, and a free personal item. I believe that is the only US airline that still allows free checked bags.
Southwest is the only one with a free bag policy. If you have credit cards with some of the airlines you get a free bag (like Alaska, United etc). If you purchase one of those no frills rock bottom cheap tickets you pay for everything including luggage and don't get a carry-on except a purse.
- Booking plane tickets for multiple people? So me and 2 of my best friends are going on a trip in December, and I was wondering if we should all buy our tickets separately or if we should give one person our money and they buy it for all of us. We plan on taking Alaska airline and I don't know if we can still get the same seats if we all buy our tickets separately
- Asthma suffers do you have any problems taking your inhalers through Airport security? I'm off to Canada tomorrow from Heathrow and I have packed two inhalers in my hand luggage, they are in a clear re-sealable bag, I don't have the original box or prescription. Should this cause any issues? Has anyone else had any issues getting inhalers through Airport security?
- Flying with multiple airlines? I'm flying with United and switching to frontier for the second flight. My question is, if I check my bag I know I'll have to go out of security, to baggage claim, recheck my bag, and to through security again. So can I gate check my bag to avoid all of that? Does it cost anything to gate check? It's a carry on but I also have my purse, and supposedly I can only bring one of those on the actual frontier flight
- How does checked-in baggage work with layover/multiple airlines? Will be flying to Romania. I start with Iberia Airlines and layover in Barcelona for about 2 hrs. Then I fly to Bucharest with Blue Air. Normally when flying with layovers, it's one airline so I know it's forwarded to my final destination. But this is my first itinerary where I switch airlines at my layover; would that mean my baggage is forwarded to Blue Air anyways, or do I need to pick it up and check it in a second time?
