Are airline pilots obligated to use autobrake or can they brake manually if they want?
From I have seen on YouTube videos they always make the call for autobrakes after touchdown
Depends upon the company policy. Autobrake is more efficient than manual braking. However not all aircraft have the facility.
Autobrake reduces the workload on the pilots when coming into busy airports. Things sometimes get a wee bit hectic
Brakes and tires get tremendous wear, which can be minimized by computer control. That might save a lot in maintenance and parts. Skidding can be almost eliminated. Autothrottle and thrust reversers are a big help on large aircraft.
- Why don't airports use steam catapults and transverse arrestor cables, like they do on aircraft carriers, for extra short take-off & landing? 1. Airports could be pretty tiny with runways no longer than a football field 2. Takeoff and landing (takeoff especially) would be *much* more exciting 3. Airlines could charge people more money because the experience would be much more fun 4. It would save a lot of fuel with much less taxiing around the airfield, and much less fuel used during the takeoff phase
- Can airline pilots have service dogs/esa dogs? If so, do they bring them into the cockpit? It's just a question that popped into my head and when I looked it up I didn't see anything on it so I thought I should ask on here and see if anyone knows.
- Can I use the airport lounge? I'm traveling to St Marteen, but I have a layover in Miami for 6 hours. I'm flying first class on American Airlines, so I assume I was able to go in the lounge. I looked it up to make sure, because I'm going next month, but it said international places, which I'm going to. The caribbean was not on the list of places though. So am I not able to use the lounge? Can someone tell me how this works.
- Can you use luggage in public spaces? Like is it socially acceptable to use luggage when you re outside of an airport and not traveling? I just don't wanna look like a freak when I carry my stuff around in a duffel bag in public.
