How many years does an airlines Captain have to be a captain before becoming a senior captain?
Depends which airline but in general from a newly qualified pilot it takes about 4 years to be a captain so I presume it will take another 4 years or so before becoming senior captain
Depends on the airline
- Can I upgrade to first class with my many many points? I have a main cabin ticket on American Airlines issued by a tour company. Is there a mechanism that I can use to sacrifice my many flight points to get a first class seat? I do not have a gold status.
- Why do so many bad things happen on United Airlines? Whenever something bad happens on an airline, its almost always on United. Like today, when some woman fat-shamed her seatmates. United airlines has also kicked many autistic passengers of planes because they were "disruptive". Why is United Airlines like this? This doesn't happen as much on American Airlines.
- Is becoming a regional airline pilot one of the few great jobs that you can have without a college degree? Many regional airlines don't require college degrees. Is becoming an E-170 or CRJ700 captain much better than working as a bus driver or a carpenter? You think sleeping at Motel 6s or Motel 8s and drinking that free coffee is bad? It would be a very nice treat for bus drivers or people with other jobs that they could find with no degree. I would be honored to sleep at Motel 6 or Motel 8 for free. At least it is much better than hostel or Airbnb.
- I've never been on a flight before and I'm going on a trip alone to get away. What do I expect at the airport? How does the process work? Who do I talk to when I arrive? Is it easy to follow? I know I need to arrive two hours early but that's all I know
