Not a chance.

You can sue the person who broke it.

File claim with TSA if you wish. If handled by a private company at that airport, they may direct you elsewhere.

It depends. You should take it to get inspected, and make sure that the TSA staff understand that they are at fault for the damage and they could possibly pay for it. I believe you can file a fault claim towards the airport/TSA. Once you send that, you should get a return letter in the mail and a form to complete regarding the settlement agreement and/or payment methods. However, it takes up to 6 months for the airport to fully investigate your claim.

TSA staff in CUSTOMS?
Probably a Customs Officer.
Will they pay for it PROBABLY NOT. They might of if you had immediately contacted an onsite supervisor to file a claim./incident report.

That two days two weeks two months later you take your camera to be inspected suggests you might have dropped it a second time or maybe three or four yourself and just want someone else to pay.

TSA staff don't work in Customs.

No, they will not.
TSA has NOTHING to do with Customs. It is one or the other, but not both.

Clarification is needed here. TSA is not involved with inspections done by US Customs. The only time you are screened by TSA is if, and only IF, you have a connecting flight.

If you had a connecting flight and during the screening at a TSA checkpoint the camera was dropped, any damages would be paid for by TSA. (See link.)

If you wish to have it looked at by a certified technician, you may do so. However, you bear the cost not TSA nor the airport.

Something to bear in mind is that a number of airports use privatized security companies to do the screening. In such a case you would need to contact the company in question for restitution.

TSA has nothing to do with customs
