Can I check in a dog crate as luggage? I'm flying Frontier?

My registered service dog will be in the cabin with me. The crate is pretty small. I'm flying Frontier.

Yeah it could be counted as luggage or carry-on depending on how big it is.

I think so if they allow you to.

Call up Frontier and discuss it with them. They'll have a web site with phone numbers.

Yes that is considered a carry-on. But each airline has specific instructions on pets. Whatever they do, DEFINITELY do not allow the flight attendants to talk you into putting your pet in the overhead! You will have a dead dog at the end of your flight if you do that. Seriously though, your best bet is to call Frontier and ask about their rules on pets. Enjoy your trip!

YES a dog crate can be considered a piece of luggage. It is basically a box.
If it is large expect to pay a fee for the space it takes up. If you fill it with stuff expect a fee for the weight.

Now does the crate have a dog in it?
FRONTIER does not allow pets in the luggage hold.

They can be part of your carry on. HINT a small crate and a small dog.

A few things to know about your pet's traveling container:

The travel container must be large enough for the pet to stand, turn around, and lie down in a natural position (you want your pet to be comfortable, don't you?). The carrier must also fit underneath the seat in front of you. There may be certain seats that can't accommodate your pet container, but we'll work with you to get a seat assignment with space.
Maximum dimensions for a pet container are 18" length x 14" width x 8" height.
We recommend the container be a soft-sided case.
Your pet must stay in its container at all times.

There's NO point in asking anyone except the airline. THEY are the people able to give you up to date and authoritative replies to any questions you may have.

Surely you don't plan to accept whatever replies people give you here, then turn up to check in and when the Frontier people say 'I'm sorry, ma'am', but your dog can't fly' you'll say 'But a whole bunch of strangers on the Internet told me it would be fine'.
ALWAYS ask the airline. Don't you think it's just possible they may know their own regulations better than any of us here?
