Can i drop off my luggage at the ticket counter?
I Have a flight from mexico city to Atlanta Georgia using southwest @ 2:45 p.m. Central time… I'm wondering if I can drop my bags off at the ticket counter like 5 or 6 hours before. I don't want to walk around the airport with all my luggage
No - you can't leave your luggage at the ticket counter.
If you want somewhere to store your luggage then you need to use the left-luggage office and pay.
3 hrs before is ok but not before that
If you're checking in for a flight, you drop off your baggage (except for your carry-ons) when you check in. You don't have to carry them around the airport. You can do it early if you want as long as it's the same day but then you're stuck wandering around the airport for hours waiting for your flight.
If you're arriving, then you can't just drop your bags off like that.
The check-in counter for your flight will probably open 3 hours before your flight. That would be the earliest you could get your luggage (and you) booked in. Why are you getting to the airport 5 or 6 hours before your flight? Anyway, you would need to find the left luggage if there's one and leave your luggage there.
You can check your bags in whenever the airline begins accepting them for your flight. Airlines usually will not accept bags more than 3-4 hours before departure.
Theoretically, most airlines let you check a bag in up to about 6 hours before your first flight.
However, that only works if the counter is open. Their ticket counter in Mexico City opens 3 hours prior to their first flight. If you are on the last flight of the day, that might work.
I couldn't find anything on their website that specifically stated how early you can check a bag. Call them to find out.
Not necessarily. Usually no earlier than 3-4 hours before your scheduled flight. You wooing;tbe walking around the airport anyway. You can't get past the check in counters without a boarding pass and that will not be issued until you check your luggage./ they will NOT let you do so too far in advance of the flight.
Can i drop off my luggage at the ticket counter? MAYBE TICKET COUNTER is where they sell tickets, They do not take luggage there. I think you mean check in counter which is nearby.
YOU CAN ASK when you first arrive at the Airport. They may take you immediately or ask that you come back later.
As Atlanta has a lot of flights they do not have unlimited room to store bags for an extended period.
You can ask. The HUMANS at the check in area will decide if it is possible the day you want to travel.
They will also be able to tell you WHEN for your particular flight they will let you checkin yourself and your luggage.
There's no carved in stone regulation for every possible scenario.
If it is a problem to haul around your stuff you can use one of the luggage storage places for a fee.
As a general rule you are expected to be at the check in area at least 3 hours before departure. An hour before is reasonable. Any more is a maybe depending how many other bags they have already in their system filling up the storage places they have for next flights. It is a large storage area it is not unlimited.

Yes should be fine, Your luggage will most likley be placed in the plane firsts, so you may have to wait in Atlanta at the luggage carousel longer, because it will be the last to be taken off. Hope you had a good time in Mexico. Have a god flight
No, but you may be able to check it in at the check-in counter. However these don't usually open until 3 hours before scheduled departure - sometimes only 2 hours - so don't count on it. Phone the airline and ask their advice.
- Flying from the UK with Easyjet - will I need to visit the check-in desk if I already have printed off boarding passes & only hand luggage? I'm flying abroad later in March (from Manchester), just for 3 days, so I only need to pack a small carry on/hand luggage. We've been sent our boarding passes already and we can check in from tomorrow (28th), but I've never been through the airport without calling at the check-in desk first. What do I do? Go straight to security? I'm not sure. Any help and directions would be ideal!
- How do you know if Turkish Airlines will raise or drop the prices? A week ago i checked for prices from Boston to Venice and it was over $1400 and a few days later it dropped to $1115. The tickets are for June 29(ish, whenever it's cheaper) till July 15th. How do I know if the prices will raise or drop? Should I buy it while it's cheaper or wait and risk it, hoping they will go lower…
- What is difference between an Economy ticket & first class airline ticket? A seats a seat at the end of the day. A 5 hour plane journey is still a 5 hour plabe journey. How does your life improve of you spend £5,000 more than everyone else on a 5hour plane journey?
- Can i use an ikea FRUKTA bag as hold luggage on an easy jet plane? I'm travelling to spain soon ona field trip, and i want to take a 65l rucksack but all of my stuff won't fit without me putting somthing like my sleeping bag attached to the side which i've been told easy jet can be funny about. I was wondering if i can use the Big ikea frukta bags (the ones with the zips and kinda like a holdall) to put my rucksack with the extras on the sides into it… Would this be safe if i locked teh bag and would the airline (easy jet) allow it?
