What should I do in LAX for 9 hours at midnight?

So I will be flying in to LAX soon. It will be late midnight, what should I do? I'm a night person who usually sleeps in the daytime (weird I know). I don't want to be spending all of this time just sitting in the airport. Is there a way to leave my luggage somewhere safe and go out to explore? Is there anything open late at night in LA? And if i will be able to get outside, where do i go? What type of transportation do I take? Do you have any recommendations?
PS: I don't drink, gamble, or do any of that.

Added (1). Also TSA could be a problem, is there a way to beat the lines if I'm going outside then coming back in?

There's a luggage storage business but they're only open 4am-midnight.

If you are changing planes at LAX then the airline will hold your luggage. Regarding what to do, best is to get a hotel room at an airport hotel. The bit in your question about TSA indicates you are changing planes. Ensure you have the boarding pass for your onward flight before exiting the airport. You also need to be back at the airport and standing in line for TSA security two (2) full hours before your flight is scheduled to depart

If you are not changing planes and LAX is your destination but you can't continue to wherever you are actually going for nine hours then best is still to get a hotel room.

This website has advice for overnighting at LAX, and the website lists info on luggage storage and layover sightseeing.

I would find a corner and sleep all night, or find a spot near a phone charger. Check with TSA about exiting and reentering.

Here's some restaurants you may be able to hit if you can find an Uber driver roaming around in the middle of the night

I guess it depends on where you are from and what you want to see. Do you live by the beach? If you haven't really spent much time at the beach, you might just want to head over to Santa Monica and 3rd St Promenade. There are some bars and clubs, which means people around, so it makes it a little less shady to be wandering around. Downtown LA will have nightlife. Sunset Blvd area will have a lot of people around near the clubs/bars. There won't be any traffic, so you can get around fairly easily. Even with 2 hours back at the airport and say an hour of travel, you will have 6 hours to check some stuff out, but you won't really have much to do after 2 am. You shouldn't have any problems getting Ubers.

There are many things open at night, but the area with nightlife is not near LAX. You need to allow two hours for getting from downtown to LAX normally, four hours at rush hour, and two hours for getting through the TSA line.

You need to start heading back to LAX by 5 a.m. If you wait until 6, then you may make it in time, because traffic starts getting really slow about 7.

There's no way to beat the TSA line if you go outside.

If you are transferring planes your check bags will be transferred and you won't have to carry those around. Unfortunately LAX has no luggage storage in airport.

There are a few storage companies but most will not be open when you are there, and the ones that do will charge you a premium. So you will have to keep your Carry-On's with you. An alternative if you really want to explore it would be best to rent a car. As you can also keep the luggage in your car.

If you are arriving on an International Flight when you exit Customs/Immigration you will be past the secured area and will need to get back through TSA to your next flight. IF this is after midnight there's a chance that TSA is closed and you will be stuck pre-security until they open in the early AM. If you are arriving Domestically you can stay in the Terminal and not worry about leaving. The only case you would is if your next flight is in another terminal you can't access airside.

LA is NOT a 24-Hour town. By Midnight except for the bar scene it is basically shut down. And by 2AM even the bar scene has pretty much ended for the night. Honestly you may find it better to just get a room at a hotel near-by watch some TV, freshen up, perhaps get Room Service early in the morning and head back to the airport about 2-3 hours before your next flight.

If you are thinking about the beach, all of the beaches close by about 10PM, if you are found on the beach(and they are patrolled) after hours you will be warned to leave and if you continue to stay on the beach arrested. Most beaches start opening up around 6AM, but by then you probably should be heading back to the airport. You could go to the Santa Monica Pier as that is open 24 hours a day, but overnight there won't really be anything open and with the exception of some people sleeping around the area you may see a few people fishing off of the pier.
